RE: Status of the Thay PW - FrodoTheFluffy - 09-19-2014 Seems like it Miles :)! Lets hope the recovery goes well My Characters have gone!! Oh no it took a while to load lol RE: Status of the Thay PW - Balanor - 09-19-2014 @Gwydion - If data isn't recovered we just keep moving forward from where we are. So if you created characters since September 11, they'll still be available from now until the next server crash with no backup (which means they will be available forever). @Miles - Yes, if the data recovery does not work out we will be moving forward with the current data setup on the server. RE: Status of the Thay PW - Balanor - 09-19-2014 There's nothing wrong with hard disk circuit board, right? ;) RE: Status of the Thay PW - Purulent Carcass - 09-19-2014 Smooth. RE: Status of the Thay PW - Balanor - 09-19-2014 The circuit board swap was not successful. There remains one faint glimmer of hope that won't be realized for at least a week or more since I need to send circuits boards away for soldering work. But I do want to stress that hope is very faint right now. So while I do have plans to pursue this last avenue we have toward data recovery since it still fits within the budget we have remaining, I am making the call to take us out of this limbo and move forward as if data is not going to be recovered. Expect a new thread from me sometime early tomorrow with information about the incentives being offered to everyone, and how additional incentives can be requested. We will move forward from where we are at in-game right now, and I will be running a couple events to bring an IC explanation to what happened, why everyone is running around in 1360 DR, and then doing things IC that result in a jump back to the 'true' time of 1362 DR. I want this wrapped up quickly, so I plan for these events and the IC conclusion to occur by next weekend if possible. RE: Status of the Thay PW - Miscr3ant - 09-20-2014 It looks easy...just solder the 49 1/2 electrodes on the burnt thingy and then walk in your socks and touch it again to give it the first spark it needs, Thayan. :D :P RE: Status of the Thay PW - Bela - 09-20-2014 :s.......Looks like an aerial photo of an airport to me. :D (09-19-2014, 09:23 PM)Thayan Wrote: There's nothing wrong with hard disk circuit board, right? ;) RE: Status of the Thay PW - Balanor - 09-26-2014 Surprisingly, I have received the new hard drive circuit board that had the old circuit board’s ROM chip moved over (soldered) to it. The turnaround time was phenomenal. Unfortunately, that’s it. The drive continues to not be recognized when connected to another computer, and it will not boot up when connected into the server. When I get right next to it I can hear there is a slight clicking sound coming from it. Multiple places have told me that if the drive is clicking you’re SOL. With this last data recovery attempt failing, the worst chapter in Thay’s history is officially over. I do want everyone to know though that the backup plan in place now has the servervault and databases going to a OneDrive folder on the server every week, which is then immediately uploaded/saved 'to the cloud' as well. In addition the weekly backup also goes to a thumb drive which is always plugged in to the server machine. Something like this loss will never happen again. So I’ll end with providing one last “I’m very sorry” to everyone, and then that’s it for this thread. Moving on. Moving on. Thank you for trying so hard, Mr. T! And for all those who donated to make a good faith effort. It would have been easy to simply throw in the towel after this long 'in the game', and move on, but we salute you! RE: Status of the Thay PW - Bela - 09-27-2014 Agreed Bishop. You did everything you could physically do T. For that we salute you. We are very grateful for everything that you have done to try to fix this 'hiccup' and for the incentives you have put in place as an apology. I, for one, would like to thank you once again. As you said time to move forward and enjoy the world once more. Forget the last month and plan for the future of Thay. :D |
