RE: regarding strict laws of this server - Muse - 01-29-2014
how are they easier how how how how? <3
EDIT BY THAYAN: NO SPOILERS ALLOWED. RE: regarding strict laws of this server - BrandenburgAngel - 01-29-2014 I can see the reason behind enslavement being a preferred punishment for breaking city laws. Quite simply, a slave is being useful and contributing to the city's upkeep, a citizen's lifestyle or aiding in tasks that are necessary for city maintenance. Someone sitting in jail is a burden to the government; all they're doing is taking up a room, being fed regularly (or at least being fed at SOME point) and requiring guards to ensure they remain imprisoned. Looking at it from a purely economical point of view, the Red Wizards have a system in place to minimize any draining on city resources and maximizing both the adherence to the laws (really, who WANTS to be a slave?) and the possible benefits to be garnered from those who DO break the law {and get caught.} If laws are broken, the city gains another worker and avoids having to 'support' anyone for doing something they consider idiotic. RE: regarding strict laws of this server - Animayhem - 01-29-2014 Well slavery is imprisonment but without the walls and depending on the finacial status of the slave owner, a drain on their resources which is better than the nationally. In reference to the Veiled Alliance and Harpers you can carefully ask thats not to say people will tell you. Harpers in general are more secretive bunch and harder to find. The Veiled Alliance is hidden too but not as hidden as the Harpers. RE: regarding strict laws of this server - DarkRanger - 01-29-2014 And asking can include PCs or NPCs. RE: regarding strict laws of this server - MsB - 02-02-2014 I just want to point out the laws of Thay are recorded in the Book of Law in the Red Hall in Eltabbar. Those are the laws that the Legionnaires enforce, ooc discussions, or posts in the forums are not known IC. If someone wants to preach ooc about the laws, then please be sure you preach from the Book of Law located in the Red Hall -not- from the discussion forum in regards to the Laws of Thay. If someone wants to challenge the authority IC for a Legionnaire, or a Thayan Knight to enforce the laws as recorded in the Book of Law, then I do hope they know the book of law IC. As quoted from the Book of Law in the Red Hall: Law Regarding Assault and Murder: Do not kill or harm another Thayan. Every assault or murder case shall be handled individually. Tharchions may let their Autharchs or even the constables on the street administer justice if so decreed. Arguments regarding an assault or murder may be heard by the individual administering justice, if deemed appropriate. The suggested punishment for assault or murder is enslavement. However if the victim is a Red Wizard or important member of society, the punishment may be death. Please note in no fashion does this suggest that assaults will go unpunished by the Legionnaires that patrol and enforce the laws of Thay on behalf of their Tharchions decree. I do hope this clears up some of the confusion in regards to me being told ooc that I do -not- and my character does not know the law of Thay. Coke and a :) RE: regarding strict laws of this server - Balanor - 02-02-2014 You can also find the Library of Law post here on the forums as well.
