Eh, it's not particularly important. More for curiosity's sake than anything. It's kind of cool to see an established NPC and think "This used to be someone's character."

Well, there's Avrora, and Vortar, and Ryech Voralt, and Siucre Voralt, and...do dead characters count? Because half of Nethjet's cemetery is packed with the names of former PCs. :)

Yep, but fortunately NPCs can give you a hint if you draw the right gossip out of them. Also there's a secret group of former PCs so super secret I may have already said too much.:P

Master Sergeant Samuel Martin in Thasselen, the original master sergeant for the Priador legion before Azura came along, is actually a retired PC as well. Although I think that was before all you young kids' time here. The player (whose name escapes me at the moment) was one of our most active Beta testers and when we went live (like 6 years ago), his PC who was already a legionnaire, was made the master sergeant for the most popular faction at the time.
