RE: HTF - Benefits and Losses - TheShadowEntity - 04-14-2015 Well, If its just 1-3 hp when my pc eats or drinks and nothing more at all then i may be better off turning it off. I had always assumed that there was some tangible advantage (Extra xp/rep/somthing) because the system is so demanding and carries the risk of killing a pc, especially because i tend to require long afk periods some times. Now granted that's just MY personal situation. But i am glad to be finding this stuff out. Still... Somehow i feel like there's this little voice inside me saying "Don't turn off HTF".. Guess its just cause i am so used to it from multiple servers now XD RE: HTF - Benefits and Losses - Balanor - 04-14-2015 Rich food also has a chance to cure disease when eaten. Rich drink has the chance to neutralize poison. Hit Points gained should be up to 8 with rich food and 6 with a rich drink. Keep in mind that if someone has the room and is pretty hungry or thirsty, this could heal a number of hit points if several items are eaten/drank in succession. No healing occurs if the PC is fully satiated with whatever they are trying to consump (feed or drink). I'll double-check that sometime to see if that's the case or if it needs to be adjusted to do so. I personally love HTF, and initially made it a requirement. But after enough...well...you know....that changed. So I do want to make sure that those who are using it get benefits that others do not. And hopefully, with many Poison (and Disease) effects becoming permanent until cured at a healer, some of this system's benefits will become even more attractive. RE: HTF - Benefits and Losses - Bertram Anders - 04-14-2015 So the real question now then is what classifies as rich food and drink. RE: HTF - Benefits and Losses - Balanor - 04-14-2015 Well...how about we do this - below is the list of all the food and drink (minus alchohol - sorry LooseWilly) in Thay. How about anyone interested go through them and make your recommendations as to what should be classified as High food/drink. If you want to go even further, feel free to do normal and poor food/drink as well. For some that may be questionable as to why , I'd also appreciate any brief explanation as to why you think it is high/normal/poor. I may make revisions based on consensus if something is currently classified in a category the majority of you feel it should not be. Berries Biscuit Bowl of Gruel Bowl of Stew Burned Fish Burned Meat Cheese Cracker Egg Fig Fresh Bass Fresh Bear Fresh Beef Fresh Chicken Fresh Cod Fresh Meat Fresh Pike Fresh Pork Fresh Trout Fresh Tuna Fresh Venison Goblet of Wine Herbal Cracker Herbal Thirst Quencher Juice Lembas Bread Loaf of Bread Milk* Mushroom Nuts Onion Pie Roast Bear Roast Beef Roast Chicken Roast Fish Roast Meat Roast Pork Roast Venison Roasted Nuts Smoked Sausage Spring Water *Right now, Milk has the unique distinction as being classified as both food and drink. If you feel this should change, or if others should be classified as both food/drink, state your reasons. RE: HTF - Benefits and Losses - Animayhem - 04-14-2015 Milk should be kept as both. In the real world, some medications labels state, take with food or milk. Cheese, figs, eggs are healthy choice snacks in real life and should be rich foods. Roasted meats are protien source so I would also concider those rich as well as the stew. The same with the raw meat and fish for those who eat them raw, that is if they can be. Ie, gnolls, lycans, shifters in animal forms. Herbal thirst quencher and juice should be high for the liquid side. For those who do not eat meat additonal rich foods could include nuts and berries. RE: HTF - Benefits and Losses - LifeLikeSage - 04-14-2015 Maybe you could set certain foods to be high quality to different races? Like half-orcs benefiting from a bowl of gruel while others not? RE: HTF - Benefits and Losses - Hellstrom - 04-14-2015 My thoughts... Rich - these foods offer many calories, or a variety of vitamins and protein Bowl of Stew Bowl of Vegetable Stew* Herbal Thirst Quencher Lembas Bread Roast Bear Roast Beef Roast Chicken Roast Fish Roast Pork Roast Venison Normal - nutritious, but not quite as much as the foods above Milk* Berries Cheese Egg Fig Fresh Bass (chance of disease for eating anything raw?) Fresh Bear Fresh Beef Fresh Chicken Fresh Cod Fresh Pike Fresh Pork Fresh Trout Fresh Tuna Fresh Venison Herbal Cracker Juice Loaf of Bread Nuts Pie Spring Water Smoked Sausage Roasted Nuts Poor - lacking in many nutrients or are made from poor ingredients Biscuit Bowl of Gruel Burned Fish Burned Meat Cracker Fresh Meat (Rat?) Goblet of Wine Mushroom Onion Roast Meat (Rat?) I put relatively few vegetarian things in the Rich category. It's certainly healthy to eat salad & veggies, but in our society that generally means "things that help you lose weight or not get fat". It takes a lot of salad to power a person who's fighting, carrying 300#, and/or running in terror. *New to give the vegetarians some options RE: HTF - Benefits and Losses - TheShadowEntity - 04-15-2015 See... The reason i wanted to know was because it carries a pretty big risk of dyeing of thirst hunger in comparison to the tiny benefits it currently offers. HTF had killed me twice since i joined here... It has never saved me once.. that's sorta a bad sign for the usefulness of the system. So much so that i actually turned it off on one of my pc's just a few hours ago. The benefits simply are not worth it. This is my reasoning summed up. Good - HTF 1. Gives a tiny amount of hp when you eat / drink Bad - HTF 1. High risk of dyeing if you need to go afk because the counter keeps ticking even in afk mode. (this alone killed me once) 2. Not cost effective in comparison to healing supplies . (i can get more HP and uses by buying a cheap bandage for around the same amount) 3. Food costs money... Its a constant drain on your coin no matter what. 4. Food & Drink weigh you down. RE: HTF - Benefits and Losses - Animayhem - 04-15-2015 Well, healing is not just bandages but also how much skill points you put into it. If you are playing a character with low skill points in healing, food and drink can stablize and get you up to a level by which you can use a bandage. Its a balance. Charatcters with HTF off compensate by loading up on bandages and healing potions which on average more costly than food and drink. |
