RE: Role-Playing and Character Guide to PWs. - Karilynn - 02-13-2014 One area I see people using OOC knowledge is in terms of the 'quest givers' and knowing where to go and to start saving up certain quest items. I try and mark in the journal (mentioned above) when a character of mine has heard about a certain quest and what they were told about it. Helps keep that separate. Would you like me to touch the topic of that in the guide, perhaps in the OOC section? If everyone got along and was happy and frolicked out into the wilds to slay dragons only to come back to the shiny tavern, drink and be merry, we would all get bored pretty quick. So be ready for conflict. Let your characters brood and hold grudges ICly for those big meanies that picked on you when you were little, get strong and get revenge, whatever you have to do. Challenge the system in character. Let me reiterate because it is that important. In Character. I still feel like a roleplaying noob most days, despite having done it for more than 5 years now, and I get jitters thinking about that first time I loaded into a NWN server and attempted to RP a character, haha. But I just wanted to reiterate this! Conflict, conflict, conflict! Especially in a country like Thay where pride & prejudice should be rampant. (Side note: I mean RP with conflict, not PvP - I personally think RP should only result in PvP on rare occasions unless your character is a psychopath :P ) If your character would get upset or hurt or annoyed at something another character does or says, by all means RP it! And after RP with conflict (or really any good RP), I usually send a friendly tell to the other person saying thanks and hope we can do it again :) Great thread, guys! |
