I usually work with traditional media, otherwise I'd use a better program.

Neither one of you can compete with the sheer excellence of Corel's (formerly Jasc's) Paint Shop Pro. You actually have to pay for it, but you get what you pay for (and for far cheaper than Adobe Photoshop). ;)
Or you can just use drawing paper, drawing pencils, color pencils and drawing tools. Either or.
Now go back and give Shar her cutie mark, MD. Nopony likes a blank flank. :D
