Letter Addressed to Legion Officers - Bishop - 08-03-2011

Striding into the Central Citadel barracks, steely eyed and hard-faced Diego makes his way through the swarm of Legion recruits into a back room. Closing the door once inside he looks around, and barks at the recruits sitting inside, "Ge' deh 'ell out, recruits! I ain' in dah mood to be smellin' yer worthless failure!". The recruits snap to and rush from the room, likely muttering about the pain in the backside sergeant.

Taking one of the seats previously occupied, Diego unfurls a length of parchment and dips a quill before penning a message long overdue.

"Legion Officers,

It has come to my attention that most, if not all of the Legion within the Priador seem to lack full understanding of what laws to enforce, and against whom. I write in an attempt to clarify these points so as to reinforce the level of discipline that has been newly applied to the soldiers in my squad. It has been slow progress training these men, and I do not want to find their training put to misuse due to a lack of knowledge on my part.

To begin, the presence of weapons within the city, I have taken to enforcing a no-weapon policy against civilians and others, barring Red Wizards as is to be expected. The purpose and logic to this has been, without a weapon, it is less likely there will be instigation of a fight, thus less chance of an intervening Legion Soldier being harmed whilst breaking up the disturbance. I would like to know should this policy be enforced or nay. As it stands, I, myself, along with my squad do not bear arms within the city as a supporting point to this, though we stand always prepared should trouble arise.

Whilst on duty it was brought to my attention by a Thayan Knight, named Vortar that the Thayan Knights stand above the laws of the city, taking their law only from the words of their superiors, the Red Wizards. I wish to clarify this effect. As I see it, the Thayan Knights are above the law, -only- whilst on duty protecting a Red Wizard, otherwise, should they not be held to the same laws as to ensure their effects are all encompassing whilst not on duty? This decree from Vortar was in effect requested to be passed along to my superiors, hence this letter containing the inquiry. Should it be ordered Thayan Knights are outside the standard enforcement I shall greatly appreciate the clarification.

Long live the Legion!

~Sergeant Diego San'draxus"

Finishing the letter, Diego reads through it slowly, and slowly nods, folding it he seals it and gets up from the table, stowing the quill in his pack. Heading to the office of Master Sergeant Martin Diego knocks and enters when told so. Greeting the Master Sergeant Diego hands him the letter and requests that it be passed along to whomever will look at it, preferably an officer, as high as it can go upwards. Relieved of the letter, Diego heads from the office and returns to duty, curious for the response.

The policy of no weapons out of their sheathes has long been enforced Sergeant, and has even been commanded by the Protector himself on a few occasions. It is however not yet a written law but a safe measure to protect against violence as you say. Vortar and the other Thayan Knights are not exactly ~above~ the law but they are not held in the same regard as civilians many of their number have risen up from the legion to become Thayan Knights. Including Vortar and all due respect should be paid and they are excempt from the policy as they directly serve the will of their masters in all things. It is only their masters that may punish them for breaking the law only if brought to their attention by the legion for ~serious~ infraction. If any further questions over the laws are in need of answering do not hesitate to contact me in anyway.
