Made Up Deity List - Arelith1 - 08-21-2011 Throwing around ideas with Edin, i decided that i'd write up a few Demi-Gods. Anyone is welcome to add to the list if they want, also, if you want to use any of them in Thay, be my guest. Garrick. Symbol- A hand holding a spear, with a broken shaft. Garrick is the Faerûnian deity of rebellions and armed uprising. Although Garrick is an old god, his worship has never grown into large numbers; being as once a rebellion has been successful, his followers quickly change gods. Garrick only has long-term support in small pockets of Faerun. At times, his faithful does increase to large (For him) numbers, normally as suppressed peoples rally together to rise up against some common foe, these times are far and few in-between though. As well as this, many other Demi-gods dislike Garrick, due to his rebellious nature. In extremely rare times, Garrick has been known to head to the battlefield himself. Garrick’s plane, Gwyfela, is a gigantic city with millions of upon millions of inhabitants. Within the city, there are two equally sized racial groups; each group hates the other group more than anything else. Massive uprisings are common as the two forces struggle for the control of the city. Garrick has promised a life of freedom and peace for whichever group finally wins the war, in full knowledge that neither side could ever possibly win. Title(s)- The King of Dissent, Lord of rebellions Power Level- Demi-god Connected Deities- None Dominion- Gwyfela Alignment- CN Portfolio- Armed uprisings, Worshipers- Suppressed peoples, rebels, Cleric Alignments- CN,CG,CE, Domains- War Holy Day- None Favoured Weapon- Spear of Uprising (spear) Codardo. Symbol- Footprint trail leading into the distance Codardo is the Faerûnian deity of cowardice. Many years ago, Codardo used to be a very famous adventurer, traveling around Faerun slaying monsters of all likes; he was afraid of nothing and amassed a huge fortune of gold and magical items. Unfortunately, by the time he reached his old age he had gone insane, not wanting to die like a moral he used his huge vaults of gold and gems to plan one last great adventure. He was to kill a lesser god, ascend to godhood and live forever. Shockingly, the plan went ahead smoothly, as the deity was summoned, traps, arrows, magic and sword alike cut him down. Seconds before Codardo took the dying deity’s portfolio, the god cursed him with cowardice. Unable to react in time, Codardo became the god of Cowardice. RE: Made Up Deity List - EdinSumar - 08-21-2011 Demigods tend to have very small followings, something close to a village or something even smaller, and are usually unknown in wider Toril. Having PCs actually worship Demigods rather than proper gods is a very unusual thing. Many Demigods are really just aspects of other, greater gods. They usually are very vague and with a very underdeveloped dogma, and might not even actually exist. Their portfolio tends to be laughable specific and they are unable to grant spells to Clerics or other divine casters, even if they do exist. The line between these small Demigods and powerful spirits is very thin, and they might as well be one and the same without much change. Anyways, most of these beings are not really recorded anywhere, and the general consensus seems to be that the DM who runs the campaign can make them up as they go along. I don't particularily want people to worship random Demigods from small villages rather than true gods, I don't think that would be very interesting. So I'd prefer if that was a very rare thing, if even a thing. Do remember that. - Edin RE: Made Up Deity List - Arelith1 - 08-21-2011 Agreed. Still, it's only a bit of fun, lets you get in touch with your creative side. RE: Made Up Deity List - Animayhem - 08-22-2011 (08-21-2011, 02:52 PM)Arelith1 Wrote: Agreed. This world has enough gods and demigods already it would be better IMHP to be creative with the current Patheon would provide more of a challenge :P |
