Artificial Intelligence (AI) Testing - Balanor - 04-09-2009 After spending a considerable amount of time trying to fix the ‘enhanced’ AI (Artificial Intelligence) system originally selected for Thay, I have decided to remove it and use a different, and hopefully much improved, version that is listed as one of the best on NW Vault. Unfortunately, AI changes and enhancements are VERY touchy as AI is tied to many, many aspects of the module. Because of the complexity and multiple ‘moving parts’ involved in this significant revision, I would like to spend a day or two (with possibly more days later on, if needed) testing the new AI. This test will involve (1) backing up all the databases and server vaults to be restored after testing, (2) password protecting the server, (3) selecting volunteers who are available or interested in helping test monster, familiar, summons, and other creature AI and, (4) restoring the databases and servervault once testing is complete. This testing will take place the week of April 13. If anyone is interested and available to help test next week, you may either post here or send me a PM. Those who are selected will be given the password to join the server on the testing days which will be announced. You’ll also receive some instruction on what we will need tested. Higher level and lower level characters testing various monster spawns and using different creature allies either individually or together would be great if we can get that. You can use your existing characters as they will be replaced with pre-test versions after we finishing testing and the current AI module will go back up. Please note that during this time the server will not be available for regular play and new players will not be able to join. Again, the plan is only to have it password protected for 1-2 days and then we’ll get back to our regularly scheduled gaming. RE: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Testing - kta - 04-09-2009 I think you already knew ;-) count me in! KTA RE: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Testing - Balanor - 04-09-2009 Haha - yeah...I was thinking you would be up for it KTA. :) I'll send you more information as we get closer to the date. RE: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Testing - Balanor - 04-10-2009 Cool - thanks Devil. I sent you an e-mail and will get you more details as we get closer to the date. I am *hoping* we can get started right away on the 13th, however due to the holiday weekend we will not be getting started before then as I will not be working on the module. More details will be coming on the specific dates late this weekend or early next week. RE: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Testing - Balanor - 04-11-2009 Based on my tentative testing, which I think has considerably improved spellcaster AI in particular, we should be set to go with some initial testing on April 13. I will make the backups necessary on Sunday night (tomorrow around the same time of this post) and password protect the server. The following day (again around the time of this post), I will restore the backups and we'll get back to normal gaming. If anyone is still interested in assisting with AI testing during that time, let me know. Please note that anyone not assisting in AI testing will be unable to login to the server at that time. RE: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Testing - Balanor - 04-12-2009 Backups have been made and the server will be password protected for about 24 hours from the time of this post. Only AI testers will be able to get in during this time. If you would like to assist with testing and haven't yet volunteered, post here or send me a PM. RE: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Testing - D3VII_ - 04-13-2009 ...Testing observations removed by Thayan ############################################################## ########################a difrent matter########################### from what i understand everything that hapens in the testing (deaths, XP, buying items, RP) is not existant to the IC game, so if we die, and the server gos live again we will be back. im asking this just in case. (i know this is probibly a repetative question but i rather be shoure than sorry) :) for the guard attacking if you have wepon withdrawn: it is a guard (not q legionair, the legions dont caire) and they giv you a couple warnings and than com up to you and you put your wepon away automaticly. wepon in front of a guard (not legionairs, they dont cair): they giv you several warnings than com up to you and you put your wepon away automaticaly (regardles if you want to or not). RE: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Testing - Balanor - 04-13-2009 Thanks for the response D3VII_. If you have any other comments on the specific items I asked you to test, please PM or e-mail them to me (I should have mentioned this in the details - my apologies). I edited your comments above to remove the specific section in regard to the first option you tested. You will automatically put your weapons away if you are a low-level PC. This is done so newbies don't get discouraged and get beat-down by guards if they do not entirely understand the fact (yet) that guards want their weapons put away. If you try with a level 2+ character, this should not happen. Also, just to clarify - yes, if you die or lose a character during testing, it will be back for you after we're done AI Testing. :) RE: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Testing - Scott Crisp - 04-13-2009 I'll help you out man! I was wondering why it was pw protected, so you can ignore some of that section in the pm I sent you. But yeah, count me in bro. |
