The process is very simple, but I'll explain it for those who are curious :). Step 1. I use google photo editor to crop the pictures to a dimension of 256 x 400. This is because if the quality is too great or the picture un-proportional, it will look out of joint. (Google photo editor is Picnik, a free online editor which was bought by Google. It's basically Photoshop lite, and thus is perfect for light editing.) Step 2. After cropping the picture, I save it as a .jpeg on my computer and put it in the NWN folder "portraits" - this is also where you will be putting the portraits once they are done. Step 3. I start a game in nwn and open the console, writing "ConvertPortrait [portraitname]" (Example: ConvertPortrait AliceBlackstone) and it automatically converts my picture into the five different sizes needed for your portrait to work everywhere. One thing in mind if you do it yourself, have a name with no spaces as it will not work then. Step 4. I will .rar all the portraits that are relevant and upload them to http://www.dropbox.com, and also use the copy I cropped to upload it here so you all can preview all the portraits available. I offer the service of light photoshop editing, as in changing backgrounds or light settings in the said picture. For example cutting the character itself out and place it on a more appropriate background. This is if I have the time to brush up what I know of Photoshop and I actually have the time to do this. Probably not in the coming two weeks at least. RE: Official portraits thread. - Sundraoi - 11-16-2012 Wow.. you go through all of that? I just crop a pic down in I-fun viewer (can be dloaded for free) and give them the following sizes... H = 256x512 L=128x256 M=64x128 S=32x64 T=16x32. This is easily done as once you have the Huge size, you just decrease it by 50% for the next one down and so on. Make sure they are saved/converted to TGA files, transfer them to your NWN portraits folder and you're ready to go. :) RE: Official portraits thread. - WingsOfStardust - 11-16-2012 It's not as time-taking as it looks :) And converting them through the game gives you all those sizes immediately and you know they work. It's just that I broke it down in so many steps and explained them as well. I have done extensive art editing for another pw. Here is a link. These are not all my images, but these are images either for my character or ones players have accepted. Art RE: Official portraits thread. - TheSupremeForce - 11-16-2012 Converting portraits in game definitely works. I did it a couple of times just to test it a few months ago (which was the first time I'd heard of it). Obviously, it doesn't give you the option of zooming in for optimal cropping or whatnot, but it does create the portraits. Which is why I crop beforehand, and zoom as best as I want. The Google+ photo editing program is better than one might assume :) Quote:As for art editing I would be willing to help with that. This could become a neat little project :) RE: Official portraits thread! - WingsOfStardust - 11-26-2012 Just reminding people about this as we are slowly approaching things! The earlier the better! RE: Official portraits thread! - TheSupremeForce - 01-25-2013 Here's a link to my first PC. Be afraid! Be very afraid! The public dropbox folder works quite well for this sort of thing. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1938598/Arvdal.rar RE: Official portraits thread! - WingsOfStardust - 01-30-2013 (01-25-2013, 04:54 PM)TheSupremeForce Wrote: Here's a link to my first PC. Be afraid! Be very afraid! Will get on it now :) RE: Official portraits thread! - TheSupremeForce - 01-30-2013 The character's name is Arvdal Shadowthistle. Hopefully, most people jump on this, because it seems like I can't see a third of the existing portraits. |
