Words for Thought - Bertram Anders - 09-12-2013 In today's world, many people overlook things that they say, or go without saying things that they think are superficial. So here are a few words for thought sometimes it is nice to just slow down and give someone a moment of your time. This can be applied on the server as well. No matter what sort of issues that your character has with another, you have to remember that someone is playing that character, and they are just as attached that their PC as you are you yours. So a simple 'Hey I like your background,' a 'I liked that RP was had earlier,' or enough, 'Your character sure is an asshole, but I like the way you play him,' can go a long way. It is important to remember that we are all here on Thay to have fun, and enjoy yourselves. Telling people what you like about their character or RP style is a good way to increase your rp interactions with that player and broaden your in-game social group. I hope you all have a great time playing. :D As Always, Bert RE: Words for Thought - Purulent Carcass - 09-12-2013 Your character is such an asshole, but I like the way you play him! Wait, thats me! I wanted to add that Djed gets grumpy sometimes and picks on a few people, but I want you all to know how great you are and how glad I am we can all play here and have such great rp'ers here! Thayan built the best server there is, and all of us have created one of the best communities there is. So thanks everyone! RE: Words for Thought - TheSupremeForce - 09-12-2013 Arvdal gets confused whenever one of the "tall folk" doesn't treat him like crap. I guess what I'm saying here is that many of our players are quite skilled at playing assholes. :P RE: Words for Thought - Animayhem - 09-12-2013 Purulent has a natural knack for characters like these whether an asshole or bastard. Not that I would not object but if he ever played someone half way decent or good. I would check the mod for pods! However there is a fine line when playing your characters whatever alignment that you keep it ingame and in character. Do not let your character spill into ooc harassment or dislike. If you are in a bad mood ooc or you disagree with how a character acts, leave the scene and maybe the game for a bit or go kill rats or some such. Yes we often come here to relax or relieve the day's stresses but we should try and not let them spill out. I have done that on occassion and caught myself and apologized and left. :D Caramiriel takes it all instride. :P Don't always hate but appreciate Druids and Elves! I often do thank peeps for rp, even if its a short time. :D (09-12-2013, 01:34 AM)Purulent Carcass Wrote: Your character is such an asshole, but I like the way you play him! RE: Words for Thought - EdinSumar - 09-12-2013 Almost everyone here has impressed me, at least once, at some point. One thing I really like about Thay in particular is the fact that the players here are in general rather good about not letting character dislike move beyond being just that. I've seen that problem before on a lot of servers. Another thing I like is the vast amount of relations you can attach yourself to, whether as the dominating, servile, moderating, etc part. I like playing all kinds of characters. My favorite aspect is how the evil alignment is so normalized, it's as easy and encouraged being evil aligned as it is easy and encouraged to be good aligned on most servers, so characters of evil alignments are not bound into a tightly defined role as antagonist. They are allowed to have likes, dislikes, traits, even genuinely loved ones and friends. RE: Words for Thought - Bela - 09-13-2013 I found myself doing this just the other day with a player/character, I allowed my pain to get the better of me and snapped at him. I apologized immediately, and I will endeavour not to let it happen again. This was totally out of character for me as a person, in game or out of game. I agree with you Ani, if you feel that you can't handle the situations in game, go on a lone hunting mission and kill things, or just leave till you feel better about coming back. I have had a great time here since I joined with different RP situations, good or evil, and to allow RL problems to get in the way of that is completely absurd. RE: Words for Thought - Sundraoi - 09-15-2013 I would like to apologize for my.. snippy attitude and having my PCs "storm" off and then logging out. I've been in a really bad place the last couple of months but I'm working my butt off to get over that. Please, bear with me as I continue to heal. I would also like to add that I love playing with you guys. This server is phenomenal as are all the players. RE: Words for Thought - Pluto - 09-15-2013 I, too, would like to add how impressed I am by the quality of players that we have here on the server. There have been PCs that Gust has ran into and while he may have been at odds with who he was talking to, the RP has always been spectacular. Very well played. To those of you who fit this bill let me say you haven't done anything wrong. In fact, you're playing your characters right! Now, everyone comes here to escape the troubles of the real world for a time. Sometimes, we can carry that baggage over with us and it can come out in game. That's normal, cause we're all human. (If it happens all the time, that's another issue....) But, the maturity of the thing is when you realize you have done so and make amends afterwards. I've seen this happen a few times and never thought twice about it or held a grudge over it. In fact, I applaud the effort and thank them for doing so. I takes a big person to admit to doing a wrong, a quality sorely missing in the world nowadays. That I see it happen here tells me we have some great people. I would also like to say that I miss my regular guys(you know who you are ;) ), don't get as much time to play through the week due to personal reasons but that will change at some point. When that time comes, let's go out and kill something on a routine basis like we used to, k? |
