Minimum Class Levels - MrsJones - 02-05-2014

Just a simple question as I'm working on a new build... is there a minimum number of levels required per class (enforced and/or suggested)? I'm not trying to min/max or anything - just wanted to make sure I'm following the rules :) Thanks!

We have no minimum on class levels. I know of a few who took only one bard level for instance to build RDDs that are more fighter than mage.

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Don't ever feel self-conscious about a character build. We all just need to roleplay our stats and we can build anything we want. Good luck with your build, MrsJones! :)

I've played on a couple servers that were very picky and judgmental about builds, so I guess I'm a little gun shy in that regard, hehe. Good to hear and thanks! :)

The limiting factor to multiclassing is noterity especially if a PrC class. Prc Classes need to be earned by noteriety or can be awarded by DMs for proper role play.

Well, it is true that in tabletob DnD, and in tabletop Forgotten Realms roleplay in particular, there are many restrictions to multiclassing. Paladins, Barbarians, Monks, Clerics and Druids, for instance, have a great number of restrictions based on Lore particulars, as they more often than not demand full devotion to their starting class.

That said, this is a computer game - we hardly have all the myriad other options that Pen and Paper DnD and FR offers us. As much as I would personally like to see more adherence to the IC conventions of faiths and practices of these classes, it remains a game, and I would much rather have people play whatever build they want, within reason, and have their merry fun with it.

I know. My question was about the minimum levels you need per class, not notoriety or PrCs. Thanks anyway for trying to help :)

I hear you and agree! In my particular case, I'm hoping to eventually get my gal enough notoriety to become a Shadowdancer because I've always really liked the RP of that PrC. But in NWN it's kind of useless to take more than one level if you're a rogue as you'd end up doubling up on feats and losing out on lots of sneak damage. So on the one hand, I feel really cheesy taking one level of the class, and would be happy to take more levels if that was the expectation. On the other hand, I'm generally a pragmatic person (and love doing sneak damage!). Anyways, I'm rambling, but I'd be happy to hear any thoughts on my particular situation as well as this sort of situation in general :)

Not as useless as you think if the Shadowscales are anything to go by. I presume their ability modifications are the same as the PC SD, but im not sure

Shadowscales? I haven't heard of that before and Google didn't help ;)
