You All Meet in a Tavern.... - Wids - 06-29-2014 Many a dungeon crawl begins with a tavern crawl...and if it doesn't, it should. This time-honored sword-and-sorcery staple can claim its origins in the Prancing Pony of Tolkien's works, and it has been a steady source of adventure hooks and barroom brawls ever since. And I've noticed that this server's taverns are, sadly, underfrequented by adventuring folk. My characters tend to haunt taverns here and there. When they come in to rest up and fill their guts on mead and pie, I often have them linger around for a bit, just to see who else comes wandering in. (Plus, Zelis has a massive Constitution, so I like to see how much booze she can put down and remain sober. Her record is 12 Winter Wines in a row, rapid fire. Top that!) So for those times whenever your characters feel the need to chug Old One Eye, preach to random barflies about this-and-that deity or maybe punch a door and annoy the guards, which of Thay's many fine establishments is your watering hole of choice, and why? (Note to self: Italics and poll questions don't mix! ) RE: You All Meet in a Tavern.... - Purulent Carcass - 06-29-2014 You left out the most sold out inn. RE: You All Meet in a Tavern.... - Wids - 06-29-2014 I'll call the Red Trident a proper tavern after somebody throws some actual tables and chairs in there. Beefy half-orc bouncers are optional, but recommended. :P RE: You All Meet in a Tavern.... - Sundraoi - 06-29-2014 The Sea Wolf and Myulon's are also missing from the list. ;) And the Trident has tables in the side rooms. They are just lower like coffee tables but still tables. haha RE: You All Meet in a Tavern.... - Bishop Edward - 06-29-2014 Looks like the Red Trident is winning, either way... heh. RE: You All Meet in a Tavern.... - Wids - 06-29-2014 "Something Else" is winning, actually. Maybe half of those "Something Else" votes are for the Decent Drink, the one tavern in all of Thay that's wretched enough to make the Slain Sahuagin look good. But some voters aren't talking, so who knows? :P But the Caravanserai in Bezantur owns all, for several reasons. 1) Cheapest beds in Thay (as low as 1 Talon to the honorable types, and Free Ninety-Free to all of you mooches). 2) A good-sized menu. 3) There's a caravan right there inside the building. 4) Same for the stables. 5) There's an oven for cooking your freshly slaughtered game, too. 6) Pick a table in the main barroom and anyone leaving or embarking on the caravan has to walk right past your table, so Roleplay Time! :D Also, I forgot that I made the poll multiple choice. So I guess it's too late to add a second vote for the Canalside, home of the rare (and lightweight, portable and highly nutritious) Lembas Bread. It's also a nice place to go if you're rich and you want everyone to know it. Plus, Bvlgari. What more could you ask for? :D RE: You All Meet in a Tavern.... - Balanor - 06-30-2014 The Last Resort in Thazar Keep. Just because Wei Dong thinks it's 'his'. ;) RE: You All Meet in a Tavern.... - Animayhem - 06-30-2014 Well in all modesty fun has been had in both Cara and Rimeth's home as both have ale! Remember Sam's table dance! Kal's home in the woods is nice but he needs ale kegs. Though Champions Inn after the Tyra joust was fun. RE: You All Meet in a Tavern.... - Sundraoi - 06-30-2014 I voted something else because for my PCs it's really a matter of what city they find themselves in at the time. They won't go out of their way to sit in a specific tavern, unless of course they have made plans to meet someone there. RE: You All Meet in a Tavern.... - MoreThanThree - 06-30-2014 Does the temple of Sharess in Bezantur count? It has free beds/ |
