What's That Parish Called Again...? - Wids - 12-14-2014 The Forgotten Realms Wiki is quite the source of information. But it does seem to leave a few things wanting when it comes to naming folks devoted to such-and-such deity. Corella's picked up something of a nasty habit: Every time she kills a half-dragon cleric, she loots her Priest's Robe, runs it over to the next tailor in her path, turns it into a priestly garment of the Church of Such-and-Such God and adds it to her Armoires of Disguises +5. Ilmatari Priest's Robe? Check. Loviatan Priest's Robe? Check. Cyricist Priest's Robe? Well, she used a Necromancer Robe looted from some dumb Wizard Mercenary for that one, but check. Then it came time for the Kossuth...Kossuthite...Kossuthian...what the heck are those guys called, anyway? The Wiki's good for filling in most of the blanks, but still there are fuzzy spots that the Wiki doesn't cover. Maybe y'all know something that I and the Wiki don't. So whadayasay we work together and make some of these question marks disappear, eh? :) (Deity - Faithful) Akadi - Akadian Auril - Aurilian Azuth - Azuthan Bane - Banite Beshaba - Beshaban Bhaal - Bhaalist Chauntea - Chauntean Corellon Larethian - ? RE: What's That Parish Called Again...? - Bertram Anders - 12-14-2014 Do you want me to put my "Faiths and Pantheons" in a drop box, or Google drive? RE: What's That Parish Called Again...? - Wids - 12-14-2014 Copy-Pastey on select bits will do fine. :P RE: What's That Parish Called Again...? - Bertram Anders - 12-14-2014 Deneir - Glyphscribes (for clergy) Mask - Maskarran Moradin - (It doesn't mention the general worshippers name.) Mystra - Mystran Shaundakul - (Shaundakulites ? Never mentions it in a the book.) Tyr- Tyrran More to Follow RE: What's That Parish Called Again...? - Wids - 12-14-2014 I could swear that I saw a .pdf copy of Faiths and Pantheons somewhere online. I should go look for it. *jot jot jot* ...of course, I also remember that book not having any entries for Leira. Yet here she is, alive and well in D&D 5th Edition. That explains all those Leiran clerics in Samarach who never lost their powers, right? Suck it, Cyric. >:] Huh. "Maskarran" is the general term for any worshipper of Mask? The Wiki's Mask entry just mentions it as being the term for the clerics, with no mention of the worshippers. Eh. Clerics count as worshippers too, I guess. *jot jot* RE: What's That Parish Called Again...? - Bertram Anders - 12-14-2014 I am just going to keep editing my last post. RE: What's That Parish Called Again...? - Wids - 12-14-2014 Sounds good. :) Hey, I bet Pleiade hit all kinds of books for Gust Windblown. Do you suppose Pleiade knows what Shaundakul's faithful are called? RE: What's That Parish Called Again...? - Pluto - 12-14-2014 Clerics are called Windwalkers. Rangers are called Zephyrs. Champions are called Windfists. This is all from a 2nd edition book, so hard to say how accurate it is now. And I'm still not really sure what you call joe shmoe worshipper of Shaundakul either. RE: What's That Parish Called Again...? - Bishop Edward - 12-14-2014 IMHO (& the RP I've been using vis-à-vis my own cleric of Kossuth) Kossuth = Kossuthite Generic Cleric(3e)/Specialty Priests(2e): Firewalker Clergy of Ascending Rank = touchstone rank, (parenthetical explanation) Lightless = Non-Initiated Clerics (those outside the official Church/faction) Torch of the Faith = Temple Initiate Righteous Flame = Lay Priest Devoted Blaze = Clergy Initiate Zealous Pyre = Junior Clergy Pillar of Flame = Clergy (often simply titled "Flame") Fury of the Faith = Senior Clergy Flame Brother/Flame Sister = Respected Clergy Inspired Forge = Senior Respected Clergy Numinous Blaze = High Priests (ultimate authority in individual temples) Most Fervid Fire = Cardinal Clergy (authority over the whole faith, beneath the EF) Eternal Flame = Pontiff (ultimate authority over the whole faith) To complicate matters, there are two priestly orders: Tendrils of Flame & Burning Braziers. Tendrils are the cloistered clerics who tend the temples; while Braziers are the "Adventuring Arm" of the Clergy. Sources: Faiths & Pantheons (3e); Faiths & Avatars (2e); Thay PW in-game lore (derived work) Bonus Features: Specialty Priests of Velsharoon = Necrophants (c.f. Necromancer & Heirophant); while True Necromancers (Necromancer/Necrophant 'Mystic Thrueges') are the most "vaunted" (highly esteemed) priests of that faith; And you left out Moander - Minions from your list :P |
