What does Thayvian food taste like? What art does it make? What music do Thayans listen to? What do Thayan mothers sing their children to sleep with?

I've heard it suggested that they would eat a meat-heavy diet, full of beef and protein. With the comparisons to the Ottomans/Nazis, I'd like to imagine that whatever they eat is unpleasantly spicy to foreigners.

Sounds like Russians by Sting..

I found a general link of faerun foods and drinks.

Its possible one would have to weed out Faerun references which may fit the areas of Thay.

Thay is kind of a mixed pot though isn't it? I imagine the current Mulan eat whatever they damn well please, considering their better quality of life, they have the options to enjoy whatever is locally grown, imports or rare game. Historically, maybe they would prefer something more along the lines of Egyptian and Greek? Many of them are described as fairly thin, so they may lean towards low-fat diets.
The Rashemi population might lead to more root vegetables, fruits, animal products and wild game with some crushed herbs for spice and drink, down to earth native types.

Art and music would probably be similar, more egyptian\roman looking art styles, tattoos in their own right are a kind of art, music likely strings, drums, strange sounding wind instrument or something.
Rashemi'd probably be more towards a range of percussion instruments and flutes, some rattlers, throat singing.

Then there's the orcs, gnolls and goblins and their nonsense, and all the little bits of other races that sometimes come to peddle their goods and services as exotics.

I imagine they probably eat what you see roaming around in the civilized areas mostly. Cows, chickens, pigs, the real question mark being how they cook it. Spicy, plain, herby.

As the Mulan actually came from ancient Egypt, a good source of knowledge would be to look into actual recipes from ancient Egypt.
