Scheduled Event: Enemies Close About - Balanor - 01-29-2009
Mari Agneh took in her surroundings and angrily kicked a long-dead rat into a corner of the filthy room. “So it has come to this,” she thought. “Running like a scared little girl.”
She rubbed her eyes and sighed. So many had deserted her. So many had betrayed her. She no longer knew who to trust but for a select few adventurers, and reaching them had proved most difficult. The way the Constable had looked at her just before she was last ambushed by a dozen assassins and almost killed made her certain he was involved and likely paid handsomely for doors to her quarters in the Central Citadel being left conveniently open.
And the Guildmistress of the Bezantur Thieves Guild -Mari's guild, she thought fiercely- could not hide the split second of surprise on her face, or the nervousness in her voice, when Mari walked in to her apartment after the near fatal assassination attempt. As soon as the guildmistress left to ‘get a priest to tend to her wounds’, Mari made good her escape from the guild through one of the many hidden escape routes she helped establish years before.
But her redemption lay just days away though. She gritted her teeth and swore that she would survive and finish the deal needed to bring an end to the Salamander War. And in doing so, provide a means to destroy all those who had opposed her and sought her downfall.
This is the lead in to an important campaign event that will be held tomorrow, January 30 beginning around 7:00-8:00 PM CST and going until...whenever it ends! All character classes and levels are welcome.
