Reusable Familiars/Companions - Galliard - 04-02-2011

Okay, I think it's kind of silly that you can only summon a familiar once a day if you say... "put them away" at some point, out of combat, undamaged. Realistically, you could just pull them out again, but no, once they're unsummoned, that's it.

I notice that Druids can only summon their companion once a day, unlike in single player where you can summon, rest, and summon again if they die. Why not implement this:

If you unsummon a familiar or companion out of combat, while they are uninjured, you get back the use of summon familiar/companion. This would be very useful when you don't need your familiar/companion for long or you don't want them getting in the way. Except, to possibly make this more fair for programming and for legitimacy, make it a dialogue option with the familiar/companion. That way, there can be a script that runs to check their health, then unsummons them and restores use of summon familiar/companion if the check is all clear.

Thoughts?

There are several commands to manage your familiar/summons/companions - use them and there is no need to script another system.

I am aware of the commands... I was just proposing this primarily for RP. I have a hawk familiar and I can't really "send" it off to go fetch something or scout the area without unsummoning it. Then, when it's supposedly going to return... I can't summon it again.

Unless the familiar dies, I don't see why you can't resummon it if you dismiss it. >.>
