Eternal Flame Rhona stood outside the gates of the Flaming Brazier in southeast Bezantur, as the passers by went about their preparations for war. Flanked as always by her half-fiend guardian, with the addition of an elder fire elemental, she shouted to those who could hear, "the shambling lifeless husks approach, but do not lose hope. Remember the Firelord in these trying times, make your prayers, make your tithes, and use his aid. If you can fight, keep a magical flame on your weapon. If not, bring the fallen to His temple, that they may be raised or purged as needed. Thay is his, the Priador is his, he will not see it fall into cursed undeath." As night fell she made her way to her chambers, passing the faithful in their prayers, the slaves being offered as sacrifice and supplication. "Elementals, let us hope they can turn the tide," she thought, "but if not, if it comes to it.....". She shook her head. Best not to consider that possibility until the very end. Placing several glyphs of warding inside the door to her room, she set down her weapon and shield, placed food for the baby firedrakes, and settled in for the night, deep in thought, deep in prayer.

The Thayans in Bezantur are becoming ever more fearful and concerned for their well-being as legionnaires in the city began to worry who among them may be waiting to stick a dagger in their back if the city is attacked, and are slow to respond -or completely ignore- an increase of thugs, lootings, murders, and arson that are occurring with more frequency throughout the city.
In this time of upheaval many turn to the Flaming Brazier and its new Eternal Flame, praying to Kossuth for deliverance. Whether or not the elemental god of fire hears them -or cares- is unknown, although the priests there emphatically proclaim the answer is yes to both counts.

The Eternal Flame entered the Brazier, her face a perplexed mess of indignation and resignation, mixed with a glimmer of hope. Followed by her half-fiend guard and a faithful monk of the Salamander order, Aze, she disseminated her orders to the temple. As much as she didn't like undead roaming the streets freely, she was still relieved to not have had to summon Kossuth himself, an act she nor likely Bezantur would have survived. That, and she trusted Maegor to fill his new position honorably, and help serve justice, if allowed to that is.
Telling Avnerath to keep the initiates and junior clergy in check, and giving personal words to the Drake guarding the inner entrance, she made her way to the Drake General's quarters. Finding him absent, she glanced around, when something caught her eye. A red cloak, dangling out of one of his dresser drawers. Out of curiosity she removed it from the drawer, finding it to be a cloak of the Burning House, and also dropping a letter to the floor. A damning letter, initialed KF just like the last one.
"Heretic, and to think I trusted him, gave him the benefit of the doubt" she thought, the fury burning within her, "no matter, if he weren't coming back this cloak wouldn't be here". Angrily she told Aze, "see that he is found". Following grimly, her fist clenched tight around her Tendril of Flame morningstar she saw that her orders were spread among the Drakes. Glancing to the pit of lost lights, she nodded. "Wait for your partner in treachery Famouth there, he'll be joining you soon enough," she thought with a vicious sneer.
