Prior to the reset, ranks were color coded. White for Sgt, blue for LT, gold for CPt and red for Tribune. Right now the only way to tell is by using your cloak.

Just the helm would be the rank color. There would be no need to change the design. If people did not want to change their main helm then they could get a display helm. Rank colors as before would be posted on the legion boards.

I don't see the point of a display helm.
While enforcing colors on armors according to that list is surely not liked by all either.
We'll simply have to rely one people emoting it or using the cloak.

This would be based on individual legions. Brandon has semi-implemented this in Eltabbar already. Since your character is a higher ranking person in your legion feel free to do it. Though if someone of higher rank contradicts it then you'll have to follow that.

For the helm color I don't like that. I think the horsehair helm with the designated color for the plume looks best, and it doesn't clash with armor colors.

You also don't have to follow the same color scheme if you feel like something else would work, you can do that.
