Journal -Maia al'Reen
#1
*After the long day Maia pulled out the notes she had taken when studying the law in the Redhall earlier that day. Lighting the candle at her desk when she realized she was getting a headache from squinting, she continued to reread the first few pages of notes. Eventually picking up her quill, frowning at her slight wince as she realized her fingers still were a bit sore from all the writing she had done earlier that day as she studied the law. Dipping her quill in ink she began to underline portions of the law. Her brow wrinkling and before long she was curling a lock of hair around her finger.*

Quote:The laws of Thay are simple, and ruthless penalties for breaking them may be enforced by those in power. Legionnaires must know and enforce the laws of Thay. If an issue arises that a simple Legionnaire cannot address, consult your betters – starting with your superior Officers. When faced with a serious problem Tharchions, Red Wizards, and Zulkirs may consult the tome known as the Library of Law in the Redhall of Eltabbar.

Subsection A- Red Wizards

The rulers of Thay are the definitive creators, enforcers and judges of the law. Heretofore, these individuals shall be referred to as Red Wizards. The authority of a Red Wizard shall supersede even that of a Tharchion.

Subsection B -Zulkirs

Among the Red Wizards, the leaders of the eight schools of magic, heretofore referred to as Zulkirs, have ultimate authority over the other Red Wizards and the realm of Thay. The Zulkirs shall make all pronouncements that affect the populace of Thay, and these may originate from individual rulings on individual cases. Among their other duties, the Zulkirs are the high judges of Thay.

A Zulkir may only be removed if he or she is destroyed utterly, beyond hope of resurrection or existence as a member of the undead.

Subsection C – Apprentices

Red Wizards may only select apprentices worthy of wearing the red robes. Therefore, it is illegal for any Red Wizard to take on an apprentice of other than Mulan blood.

*Setting the quill down she stares at the notes a moment longer mumbling to herself. Pausing a moment in her mumbling to blow on the ink before she closes her journal.*

"Being a wizard myself, even if I wanted to read this with a biased eye so I could see -all- wizards in general are "betters", I can not. Then toss in the rumor in regards to -all- wizards not being subjected to the Legion's enforcement of Thay's laws.

It is clear that the law makes a distinction between those who can be apprentices and those who can not. There is no way in nine hells that the law's of Thay were drawn up in such a fashion as to elevate the status of -all- wizards.

What in the hell is going on?"
