Legion Report: Sergeant Rente's Enslavement
#1
Returning to the barracks, bruised, covered in ash, and with a foul attitude, Sergeant Diego San'draxus let out a long breath as he closed the door to the barracks, headed for his bunk. Setting his shield on the bunk he began to clean it of the ash that coated it. Polishing the shield he finally sets it aside, moving to repeat the cleaning and polishing to his armor, a much longer process. As the cleaning completes, his attitude has slowly subsided to a dull ache of anger, which he consciously attempts to suppress. Putting his things in order he gets off his bunk and heads for the back room, taking a seat at the long table, having barked for the soldiers occupying it to get out. Settling in he sets a length of parchment in front of himself and begins to pen his report.

"Report Summary: A recent incident resulted in the dismissal and enslavement of Sergeant Rente sentenced by Red Wizard Ihsahn.

Recently it was brought to my attention by one of my squad that Sergeant Rente had held a conversation with one of my men which ended with threats and obvious lack of respect for the Legion code of conduct from Sergeant Rente himself. The information I was given was as such, Sergeant Rente demanded that an inferior, a recruit, one of my own squad, address Sergeant Rente's slave as a superior officer. When my recruit told him he wouldn't, and that Sergeant Rente should see me, Sergeant Diego San'draxus, about it if this was a problem Sergeant Rente did not respond kindly. He threatened the life of my soldier. As expected, this past evening when Sergeant Rente entered the barracks with his slave, Drudo a previous member of the Legion, I took the opportunity to confront him about these allegations and to resolve it if possible. Once confronted Sergeant Rente made it very clear he was not interested in accepting he had threatened one of my soldiers, and showed obvious lack of willingness to resolve the matter.

Drawing his weapon, a two-bladed sword, I saw very few options as his tone and demeanor were quite aggressive. His dog added only more threat to the situation, as a soldier of the Legion I prepared for the worst, once attacked Sergeant Rente was dispatched, along with his dog. When he showed no more willingness to attack I attempted to leave the matter as closed. Leaving the room I found Sergeant Rente's slave standing outside the door, angry and aggressive, she began ranting and threatening me, and when I told her to mind her tongue she attacked, casting spells. So as a natural instinct I dispatched her as well, whilst this was occuring, Sergeant Rente attacked again, and was again dispatched, showing loyalty to his slave over the Legion's own.

Once both had been dispatched I took to removing Sergeant Rente's cloak, to ensure that his actions would be reviewed prior to its return, whilst I was collecting the cloak, his slave had cleared some room and attempted to attack again, this time setting off a magical explosion that filled the entire hall. Barely clearing the blast I was able to take her down once again and make certain she would not get up again. By this time, a Legionairre had found Red Wizard Ihsahn who came in to see the aftermath.

Upon being ordered I gave Sergeant Rente's cloak to Red Wizard Ihsahn and detailed the events a fore mentioned to him as well. Whilst detailing the events, Sergeant Rente reclaimed consciousness and attempted to attack again, only to be dispatched by Master Ihsahn himself. Once Sergeant Rente was dispatched I was ordered to shackle Sergeant Rente and deliver him to the Pits. By order of the Red Wizard I obeyed, and thus I conclude my report of the incidents.

Thus, Sergeant Rente was removed of his Legion cloak along with being shackled and set to being a slave for the Pits. All deemed a sentence by the Red Wizard Ihsahn.

Any further questions or details required to fulfill any inquiries for this report please just let me know.

Reading through the report a few times, correcting as he finds points to correct he nods to himself, and folds it up. He stands and sealing it he takes it to Master Sergeant Martin to have it delivered to the proper authority.

Sergeant,

As a Red Wizard was was involved, there can be no disputing the outcome or questioning whether or not it was correct. From the legion's point of view, not that it matters at this point, I do agree with your actions and commend your prowess in combat. While killing the now-namelss sergeant would certainly have been an option, Thay always needs slaves as well and it is preferable to increase the number we have whenever possible.

My only question is: what happened to the slave of this man who no longer exists? If she lives, she is to be hunted down and killed. Attempting to kill a sergeant of our legion -multiple times- must not go unpunished. If possible her death should be slow, painful, and public to set an example to other slaves that might have similiar ideas. If not possible, a simple death will suffice.

In the service of Thay,
-Master Sergeant Samuel Martin
