Caravan Death
#1
If you die inside a caravan and choose the respawn option, you dont log back into the caravan.

So the only option is to hope someone honest finds your remains, and returns them?

Or are they all gone now?
Nevermind, got back on the same caravan route, and there it was.

Curse you Invisible assassins, curse you!!

Depends on if you died inside or outside the caravan.
If you die outside and respawn from fugue, you take the same caravan and your stuff should be on the ground behind them. Inside may be more tricky though if you respawn immediately you may get on same one. I was lucky I had had honest peeps find my stuff and returned it all in game and in character.

ICly the explanation is that the Spectral Red Wizard cannot return you to a location that has theoretically moved from where your death occurred (cannot go back to the wagon), for instance. This is one of the hazards of taking a caravan rather than going overland by foot or by horse - however even death during overland travel can lead to a loss of all your equipment if you don't return quickly enough (bandits, roaming monsters, whatever finds and takes it)

OOCly, the logistics of handling death on caravans, ships, and even in overland areas is very tricky. At this time perhaps the 'easy way out' has been taken by not dealing with all the various situations that can arise if a dead PC tries to get back to a moving target. So PCs, if killed during transit somewhere, can not go back to the location of their death in those situations. This may get addressed in the future, but as it is hopefully an uncommon occurrence (death by assassin or another PC is about all I can think of that would cause this...?), those unlucky enough to die on a wagon or ship will need to either rely on others to get their stuff or else get some money from their vaults and try to get on the same ship/caravan again.

It can either be assassinations or attacks on ships or caravans. Although expensive I have invested in some recall stones which can save you as it did me when I was attacked below deck on a ship. I have it in one of my second hot key slots. Also I have put stuff like extra clothes in my horse's saddle bag so I do not go nekkid plus I put things in the vault storage. I try to keep my on hand stuff minimal in case I fuge. I like the fact that now you do not loose your bags or boxes as you did before. It was a pain having to rebuy them :P

I'd rather lose my bags than the two spells from his spell book.

Getting stuck against the door, and the resulting death, just cost me over 16,000 gold in scrolls I will now have to replace. And had I not the ability to get some gold with the few remaining spells I did have, and board the caravan before his loot disappeared? That could have been catastrophic.

Not complaining mind you, just saying deaths on Caravans are verrry bad.

Had some, i was so flustered about not being able to move and see one of the attackers, I took too long trying to understand what was happening, and the unseen on cast fnger of death on me.

Ah well, live and learn. From now on I'll stay in his tower and .....oh wait...they get in there too!
