I want to briefly talk about a last-minute addition to the Dragon Disciple class -
9: Wings - The character grows dragon wings of the dragon type whose traits they manifest. These wings provide the ability to fly to a line of sight location
Please note the underlined part. That means that a PC can only fly to a location that they could target just like any other spell. Unfortunately, this means that a PC can not fly to the other side of a castle wall and, from my testing, not even to the top of the castle wall or building/tower. This is an unfortunate limitation of the spellcasting system in NWN (no spell can be cast at a location you can't see), and this flight ability is a type of spell so it mirrors that behavior.
While I could give the dragon disciple a flying widget that will let them target anywhere (not even within their line of sight), that then would become a HUGE problem in interior/underground areas where all walls would theoretically bar movement completely since they run from floor to ceiling. But if the PC had explored what was on the other side of the wall so the fog of war was gone, they could then miraculously fly *through* a blocking wall and basically jump anywhere in the area that they like which is in-range. Of course, I could also put line of sight checks on the flying widget use, but then we're to the exact same limitations as the spell since NWN would not consider the top of a building or castle wall 'line of sight'. This is also the reason I don't want any PCs to have rods of flying for anything other than use in a DM event or something similar.
Anyway, just thought you all should know that while being a Dragon Disciple able to fly is cool....it's only 'kinda' cool.
