I've been looking for a serious RP, harder ruleset, active Forgotten Realms server for some time. I've tried a few of the others and found them generally lacking what I was looking for, but I believe from what I've seen that Thay may be precisely what I'm looking for. I'm very excited to start playing here and get involved in the RP community.

Which all brings me to the crux of this thread. I'm looking for assistance in character creation, I've DMed and played for years so I've created and played hundreds upon hundreds of NPCs and PCs. There isn't much I haven't played in some capacity during this time. But what I'd like is to play a PC that has some purpose other than being another adventurer. I'm looking to make a PC who would be family to another PC, or work in a position for another active PC (secretary, squire, apprentice), I would love to play a PC that has some stake with another PC and could play off of that (it would make for some great RP).

I'm open to any age, gender, race, class or alignment as I've played them all at some point. Mostly what I'm looking for is just something that sounds -awesome-.

I can play evenings typically after 9 or 10pm CST.

I do DM fairly regularly elsewhere so I'd be balancing this with that.

P.S. I would love to play a Black Flame Zealot, but the PrC doesn't exist here and not sure how to build it with the available classes.

Well Assassin PRC would be your Black Flame Zealot. You could possibly make him a Cleric/Rogue/Assasin, or Rogue/Assassin, Fighter/Assassin, Monk/Assassin. All of these would work, you would just have to either join the Temple of Kossuth or the Assassins guild. Though obviously your patron deity would be Kossuth.

Im sure you can find some weapons or magical items in your journeys that invoke fire and depending on the route you want to take, and your depth of roleplay you could easily make him come alive as a Black Flame Zealot.

Your in a good time slot, quite a few people play around that time, I do personally.

Perhaps starting a new character and having someone start a new character also with a similar interest in mind. But you may want to make certain you enjoy their rp and yours are conductive to each others first ;)

What Valiant_Destiny said makes a lot of sense to me, though I'm not familiar at all with Black Flame Zealots. I play around then as well, and if you do create this character, he/she should definitely meet my char Azel :)

Thanks guys, yeah I was actually considering a 11 Cleric/2 Rogue/7 Assassin as a potential build. That way he'd be high enough cleric to get to the upper echelons of the faith yet still enough levels that Hide/MS could be dumped and kept max.

I've been trying to convince a friend to come check the place out, I believe he's considering a monk of Kossuth.

Relax and enjoy. Create a character you feel comfortable with and can stay in character with. Maybe start with a basic one you have played to get a feel for this server, then branch out.
