Beginning this Monday, September 28, I will start running an open campaign of some related, and some unrelated, events in regard to certain aspects of greater Thay I feel may be underrepresented which I’d like to see some attention brought to it. These events could focus on places, characters, creatures, organizations, storylines, etc. Think of them as related short stories that are intended to add to the overall big picture that is Thay and showcase certain components of the PW that may not be well known or often utilized. The format of these events will be pretty simple –

1. If I have a theme or a specific event in mind for any given Monday night, I’ll try posting a day or two ahead of time. Events will be held most Monday nights, but not always. Even if I don't announce an event, I (or another DM) may still do something based on the PCs who are logged in on a Monday night. For announced events, each announcement will contain a high level synopsis about what the event will involve, where those interested should gather beforehand, and what types of characters are recommended.

2. These events will often be tailored for a recommended type of protagonist PC. There doesn’t need to be any long-term commitment from anyone to attend multiple events. But keep in mind that some storylines may go multiple weeks and you may not always have PCs that will fit well with an announced theme or event.

3. Monday night events will usually start at 7:00 PM Central will run for no more than 3 hours.

Event Theme: Thay is recognized as the Great Eastern Threat by many more ‘civilized’ nations of Faerûn an organizations dedicated to the defense of others. The ‘meddlesome’ Harpers stand among Thay’s most despised enemies. They have long sought to increase their influence in that dark land to disrupt Red Wizard agendas and the many deplorable things that go on there - slavery being among the worst. They now have a plan to expand their influence into the very heart of Thay...

Recommended PCs: Any level of Red Wizard, Legionnaire, or Thayan Knight PCs, those opposed to the Harper organization, and/or those who seek to preserve the evil nature of Thay.
Note that for next week’s event I will be seeking the opposite type of PCs as the protagonists - Harper PCs and/or those who seek to undermine the general evilness of Thay. However, if there are any of those anti-Thay PCs who wish to try and infiltrate this first event you are welcome to do try and do so.

Event Starting Location: Interested party members should make their way to the Caravanserai in south Tyraturos before the listed start time below.

Start Time: September 28 at 7:00 PM Central

Start Time: October 5 at 8:00 PM Central. This event will go no longer than 2 hours.

Event Theme: There are currently two major factions among the Red Wizards. The Imperialists are devoted to an expansionistic and imperialistic policy of swallowing neighbor states and eventually the entire Realms. They have attempted this many times, but they are invariably stopped. Many of the Imperialists blame their lack of success on the inactivity of the most potent Wizards of the realm, who happen to be the other major faction and are known as the Researchers.
These worthies believe the true vocation of the magic-user is research and careful application of the research to acquire new and more potent wizardries. While a Researcher might go adventuring or use his powers to help his own fortunes, as a group they are notoriously uninterested in assisting the land of Thay in conquest. Researchers are essentially selfish. If the enterprise does not benefit them directly, they have no interest in it.
The main leader of the Researchers, as much as they have leaders, is Sabass of Thay. This powerful Red Wizard is seeking knowledge of a powerful artifact that could potentially unite the disparate factions of Thay and, in turn, lead to the establishment of a Thayan empire - not just a nation of petty self-centered wizards.

Recommended PCs: Those with an interest in discovering forgotten or hidden lore and artifacts, or those with the desire to see Thay united under a strong central leader.

Event Starting Location: Interested party members should make their way to the Last Chance Tavern in the Keep of Sorrows.

Start Time: October 26 at 8:00 PM Central
