The ability to disguise one's self is one of the more unique features of Thay. Through either the Disguise Self spell, Disguise Kits, or via a powerful Hood of Disguise, there are over 100 humanoid disguises which may be applied to a character. In game terms, when you apply a disguise you simply change a character's appearance. This change is considered only cosmetic or illusionary - no special racial or monster powers are received by applying a disguise.
There are three options to disguise a character: the Disguise Self spell, a Disguise Kit, and a Hood of Disguise.
Magic users may cast the Disguise Self spell, or it may sometimes be found, and cast by anyone, on various magical items. When this spell is cast, the disguises that are available are determined by the level of the person, or item, casting the spell. Once cast, it also adds +10 to the caster's Disguise skill for a time, which will allow that person a larger selection of Disguise appearances if he then chooses to use a Disguise Kit.
Disguise Kits can be found as treasure or be purchased from shady(er) merchants. These kits are unique from the Hood of Disguise and Disguise Self spell since any character can use the kit to disguise either himself, another PC, or DM Possessed NPC. Every two points a character has in their Disguise skill, including points provided by the Disguise Self spell or Disguise-skill-enhancing-items, determine how many disguises someone can apply via the Disguise Kit.
Hood of Disguise
A Hood of Disguise is a rare and powerful item. When equipped, it will allow a character to apply any available disguise in the gameworld.
Disguise Commands
Once a Disguise Self spell has been cast, a Disguise Kit has been used, or the Hood of Disguise has been equipped, the following disguise commands can be used:
!ds list - Type this command to display a list of all available disguises that you can apply
The available appearances that someone can apply as a disguise increase with every spellcaster level if disguising one's self via a Disguise Self spell, or with every two Disguise skill points if disguising someone via a Disguise Kit. Wearing a Hood of Disguise allows someone to assume any disguise.

Disguise Self Spell

Disguise Commands
Once a Disguise Self spell has been cast, a Disguise Kit has been used, or the Hood of Disguise has been equipped, the following disguise commands can be used:
!ds list - Type this command to display a list of all available disguises that you can apply
!ds xxxxx - Use this to apply an available disguise, where xxxxx is the name from the List of Disguises section of this guide. For example, typing !ds elfmale will change a character's appearance to that of an elf male
!ds return - Once disguised, type this command to return to your normal undisguised appearance
