Because all players within the gameworld, and those who may be new and logging into Thay, can see the names of characters in the character laboratory, and because it seems unless something is spelled out to the letter it will be abused; the names that test characters may have is now restricted to only "true" fantasy names like ones that would be allowed for "real" characters.
Or in other words; when creating a test character, please follow the guidelines we have for a player character name as if you were going to login and play it for 5 years on your way to level 25. Then simply put a period in front of that name to make it a testing character. This is to avoid any more offensive, nonsensical, or .Testing Asdfasdf character names that others outside of the lab and the server can see.
If you have a test character with non-fantasy name (excluding the period), please delete it the next time you login with it.
