Hi guys, wonder if anyone that knows more about NWN than I do has run into this.... I get a "connection error: could not translate address" when trying to connect to any server just after I click on "ok" from my direct connect link on my desktop's login details window (the one with Username and password) anyone know a fix?
EDIT: doesn't work normally through direct connect after booting up from nwmain.exe either..... made sure all paths are correct.... currently I can only try to log in via faking my history in nwplayer.ini the server shows up... about to try.
EDIT to that EDIT: I can log in via history, but nothing else... sigh.

If you get this error, try exiting out then immediately trying to direct connect again.

Believe me, I've don that many a time. Its hardfaulted.

Hm, I just had this issue earlier, and it fixed it for me.
Give some time to see if I can think of anything.

What operating system you using? I have a direct link shortcut as well as main.

Windows 8.1 using the Stardock Start8 application to simulate windows 7 instead of the spooky new interface.
I use direct connect shortcuts normally... but right now the only way I can log in is like I said, using gamespy history, even direct connect doesn't work through nwmain.exe

I have windows 8.1. I just unpinned all the apps. I put a shortcut to desktop on the start page and I click on it and bam, the old win 7 desktop. I loaded my NWN from my external drive which was set up for win7. I just ran the compatibility for windows XP and bam it works. I suggest maybe trying that without the Stardock feature I can log in via main or desktop short cuts.

no joy without Start8, which is not suprising because when windows released the update that added the oldschool start menu, they just worked their framework around it. making start8 more lightweight.

While not addressing the direct connect issue, you could use
NWNCX. It will bypass all the master server error and uses Skywing's server listing to instead of gamespy, so you don't have to rely on your favorites list. I use it and find is rather useful.

I'll give it a try, thanks for the suggestion. but like I said, normally I just direct connect which should eliminate any gamespy errors anyway.
EDIT: Issue seems to have gone away, odd.
