Thay PW Seeking Design Assistance
#1
The Thay PW is always on the lookout for talented individuals with an eye for detail to help form a core design team, or just to help us here-and-there as they have time. If you are interested in utilizing the Thay PW Base Module, note that to open it you will need not only the Base Module, but also the Thay PW Haks.

Thay PW Base Module and Design Guidelines (Updated as of 10/1/2023) - This includes the most recent base module as well as the guidelines we have for area and creature design.

Thay PW Haks (Updated as of 10/1/2023) - These are the hak and tlk files for the Base Module, which can to be downloaded and extracted so you can open the Base Module in the toolset.
IMPORTANT: These files are almost always going to be out-of-date. Therefore it is better to take the steps in the post below to recreate them from your up-to-date nwsync data which is automatically generated by logging into the PW.

Area Design
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have experience using the toolset, and feel you would be interested in creating any variety of areas for the Thay PW, you may be a good fit for helping us as an Area Designer. I do request at least a passing knowledge of the toolset for area designers as I, unfortunately, do not have the time to help train newcomers to use it. To do any area design work you will need the Thay PW Base Module which can be downloaded via the link at the top of this post.

As of 10/2/23, area design assistance is requested for the following:
-Existing Area Tileset Revisions
With recent NWNEE updates, there are new tilesets which are more suitable for these areas than the tileset originally used to create them. It would be wonderful to have someone(s) recreate the area in roughly the same layout, using the new tileset specified.
1. Sunrise Mountains - Central Range Mountainside --- Currently Uses: Rural Winter --- Recreate Using: Early Winter 2
2. Sunrise Mountains - Northern Range Mountainside --- Currently Uses: Rural Winter --- Recreate Using: Early Winter 2

-Bezantur
1. Redo upper Bezantur Central Citadel as per Simbul's Gift source material
2. Flaming Brazier Mines

-Eltabbar
1. Vola Rhym's Residence

-Planar
New planar areas - reference Player's Guide to Faerûn, Chapter 6

-Underdark
1. Ruined/Abandoned Drow City/Village/Segment. Include Planar Portals and temple(s) to Non-Lolth Drow gods
2. Undrek'Thoz Prison in Drezz'Lynur
3. Kuo-Toa Underwater Village
4. Svirfneblin Village (Large Project)

-Cities (Large, Lower-Priority Projects)
1. Nethentir (Must be done before others listed below)
2. Glarondar, Glarondar Keep, and The Watchwall (Aglarond)
3. Tezir (Thesk)
4. Surcross (Thesk)
5. Fort Thesk (Thesk)
6. Sultim (Mulhorand)
7. Two Stars (Thesk)
8. Tammar (Thesk)
9. Murghyr (Murghom)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Creature Design
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is always great to get new creatures and those from the Monster Manual that are not part of the standard selection of monsters in NWN are preferred. Planar creatures are especially sought after since they are commonly called by the Red Wizards, and human and demi-human creatures are also highly sought after as well due to their versatility. To utilize creature models from the Thay PW hak, you can use the Thay PW Base Module which can be downloaded via the link at the top of this post. Please keep in mind we can resize any model, add a wide variety of wings and tails to certain PC-type models, and add special VFX to any model to provide tentacles, auras, flaming eyes, and many other unique options.

If creature design is an area you would be interested in, please contact me with the creature(s) you would like to create.

As of 6/22/23, we are looking for a wider variety of NPC adversaries with the following classes:
Weapon Master/Fighter
Dragon Disciples
Pale Master
Purple Dragon Knight
Shifter

As of 6/22/23, we are also looking for monster creations, of all types, for challenges to PCs in the level 20-25 range

To ensure you have the most up-to-date haks when doing design work for the PW, it is highly recommended you follow the process below, rather than use the (typically) outdated haks in the first post. These steps were compiled by William Draco and use some code he developed, so please contact him if you do run into problems or have questions. Most of the staff (as of November 2021) have gone through these steps, so they may be able to help, as well.

OVERVIEW
The webserver of the Thay PW that gives clients nwsync also stores data on how to "undo" nwsync and put it back into the original haks. So we need to get where that data is (latest.txt) then get the data from its location (the .origin part) then run a program William Draco created (nwsync_originate) to put it back into haks.

ONE-TIME-SETUP
1) https://github.com/niv/neverwinter.nim/releases - Download the latest version under the "Assets" dropdown. Always pick neverwinter.windows.i386.zip (64x version has some issues)
2) https://github.com/WilliamDraco/nwsync_o...e/releases - Download the latest "windows" from the asset dropdown here.
3) Extract both of the above zip files into the same location (so it becomes one folder with 19 exe's and 2 dlls)
4) In the same folder, create a .txt file (maybe "ThayHaks.txt") using notepad and copy in the below code. Make sure to change the two folder paths to the paths you want to use:
Code:
powershell wget http://65.52.211.137/latest -OutFile latest.txt
set /p neworigin=< latest.txt
powershell wget http://65.52.211.137/manifests/%neworigin%.origin -OutFile %neworigin%.origin
nwsync_originate %neworigin%.origin "D:\temporary\folder\for\output" -a "C:\Path\to\Documents\Neverwinter Nights\nwn.ini" -d -c
PAUSE
5) Rename "ThayHaks.txt" to "ThayHaks.bat"

TO USE
1) Double-click "ThayHaks.bat"

Note: You must have the latest nwsync (via logging in-game) in order for this to work.

Please note that for the first time in years, the Thay PW Hak and the Thay PW Base Module downloads above have all been updated since the Thay PW custom content has undergone a significant change for our 4th edition reboot coming up in a few days.

For anyone who has done/is interested in doing area design work, please download the newest Thay Base Module v8, and the thaypw0 thru thaypw4 haks that it will need, from those links above.
