NWN does not work
#11
I'll be rebooting after swapping security systems so I'll let you know. It never worked in the past though, if anything the fix was temporary and it kicked me out after 10 minutes of gameplay before resuming its error reporting.

What version of NWN are you using? I'm only asking because I've heard the GOG version has its own set of issues.
"Survival of the fittest and the winnowing of the weak are Malar's Legacy. A brutal, bloody death or kill has great meaning. The crux of life is the challenge between the hunter and the prey, the determination of who lives or dies. View every important task as a hunt. Remain ever alert and alive."

Its a Deluxe Edition from years ago. As updated as it can be software-wise though. Restart didnt do anything except change the Offset numbers.

Done some more investigating, some are suggesting it's the video drivers. Try going back to an older version of the drivers? Just to see if it'll work. *

edit:
"Yeah, ntdll is a pretty common file, Google probably won't find anything specific. Aside from driver updates, the only thing I can think off is a reformat, which is kind of a last resort. My NWN used to lock up after an hour or two of play (no errors or anything), and that ended up being because of my ATI video card."

Well, I'm sorry I can't help more today. I'm going to sleep now after this very long day.
With my leave, may this somehow aid you in your search of the interwebs.

I've read the same sites already, read something about downloading an older version of the drivers but placing it inthe NWN directory so it doesnt screw up the more advanced ones that I need on here. Kinda delaying on trying this out unless someone can solidly recommend it simply because it sounds like it could play abit of havoc.

Have you checked the firewalls on your anti virus system? You said you are running it on windows xp and not win 7? Did you do a totally clean unistall of NWN?

Avast, Norton cause no conflicts with NWN. My suggestion is to run a complete antivirus scan after unistalling NWN. Then after it is installed and the patch downloaded, do a compatability check. Also make sure in the configuration tab it is set for 32 bit not 64 bit system. Is this and older copy or did you get a new one from GOG?

The graphics drivers should not be the problem as it can handle advanced graphics. You may have to run it as an administrator.

Ok. I know I am often seen as the harbinger of bad news but from my experience I can only suggest you completely reinstall your OS. It is never a good idea to run a Windows OS that has been compromised in the way you described it.

Sophos did quarantine an NWN file Animayhem right before trouble started kicking off, I think that file got moved or deleted but i can no longer find it. Sophos i've taken off now and replaced with kaspersky. I did uninstall the game etc but left overrides, haks etc in their place so when the reinstall came along it'd join with it. Should the whole thing be scrapped? Would'nt it simply just replace the files that the CD uploads when the install happens.

KTA: Why? I ran a repair and restore for what Sophos did (quarantined itself and several other files when the upload came with a glitch) in most cases, its just the nwn file that I was trying to fix before Sophos uploaded the solutions in their next upgrade and that got lost or terminated.

Can you be sure all damage was undone? If you really want to keep the OS - do a clean reinstall of nwn, that means save the folders you want to keep somewhere else, deinstall nwn, clean the registry, reboot and reinstall nwn. It should work then. If not its the OS that got borked. After you are sure it works then copy in the old folders you kept ONE at a time and try if it still works after every folder.

Can I simply pull the folders onto my desktop to be reinserted later?
