Just popped into Thay. Maurice has his home. His merchant is gone and the thousands of gold of property for sale is gone. Not to mention the cool magical stuff he's picked up in the last several months.

I have no problem with that whatsoever! He's alive! LICKME will be re-established by the end of the night, so I gots no concerns.

Still! The only 14th level character I've heard of who has yet to hit the Fugue Plane!

I think, after reading the previous posts, that if possible to run from a February re-set with the new hardware in position is a good idea.

I, however, will go along with the majority and whatever is decided I shall be happy with.

I do think that a full recovery "no matter the cost" is just a stupid waste of money. But that is just my opinion.

Like I said previously, I shall not be asking for DM assistance for a full rebuild as I cannot honestly remember where my girls where at or what they had in their inventory or vault.

I am just as happy to re-build from scratch as I am working with the February line-up I had.

What ever is decided I am just pleased that Thay is back up and I can get my sanity (somewhat) returned. :D And I am here for as long as Thay is here. :D

Oooo! Just had a brain fart. I liked the idea of having a "doomed to fail, good guy adventure" that had been mentioned previously.

Maybe that could still be run and somehow lead to the return to Feb. Better than using "The Enervation" again. The heroes screw up (gloriously and dramatically) and that somehow leads to what we end up with. Maybe there's a mindwipe, but maybe not.

I'd still really like to see that happen, but I imagine the DMs will have their hands full with other things for the foreseeable future, anyway.

EDIT:

Speaking of which, I voted for the third option in the poll, but want to make it clear that to me this is the ideal solution, and something that should only be actually pursued if the DMs are sitting around like "Man, I have just got too much spare time." Otherwise, I'm in favour of the second.

Do we have an ETA for how long the server will be password protected? GOG recently gave away NWN as part of a free promotion for another game (Witcher 3, maybe?) and it'd be a good opportunity to do some advertising over there (especially since I feel like people who are into Witcher 3 might enjoy Thay more than some of the other NWN PWs). I've also got a friend who's looking to join the server. But I don't want to start trying to get new players in until the server's open to the public again.

Also, this is just a question, I'm not trying to light a fire under anyone's butts. If it's open to the public this afternoon, that's fine. If it's not open to the public until 2015, that's also fine. You guys know what you're doing and you're putting a hell of a lot of hard work into making it happen. I'm just happy to see the server up again.

Well, the server is open to whoever wants to join so long as they read at least the bottom part of the first post in this thread so they know that there is the possibility that what they do now *could* be reset.

My intention is to have the password remain until a firm decision is made about the future. When that decision will occur decision is going to depend greatly on any additional donations that come in within the next week or so from folks who really, really want option #1 in the poll. I've had conversations with a couple people who have indicated they may be willing or able to cover the difference, but until that money is in Thay's vault I cannot make the call to go forward with the data recovery.

So to put some type of deadline on this, I will have a final decision and plan made by next weekend.

A (general) question: If we vote to give incentives to new PCs, would those be applied to PCs created during this week of uncertainty?

Also, can we call this last couple of weeks our own Time of Troubles? Seems appropriate ;)

This is without a doubt Thay's Time of troubles. Nothing this cataclysmic has ever happened before, so that's certainly appropriate.

Incentives won't be offered or given until a final decision is made next week about moving forward. I don't want to spend people's time worrying about those when there is still the outside chance they won't matter if data recovery is pursued.

I must say you are quite generous to hold off on anything until you get some feedback from the players. Some others may have said forget it is my server my rules.

Your consideration of the players is one reason I believe this place has survived as long as it has. :)
