Compy Repair
#1
Ok i had a bad start up and did diagnostic and compy repairs.

I put some programs and did some back up on an external drive.
I have a staples near by and they seem to do decent enough. In fact I may check their home repair/diagnostic.

Anyone here ever had in home service done. I had it once while warranty still active but I can no longer get manufacture warranty.

Dell XPS Studio Win 7

Thanks

I've driven my CPU to a technician shop two or three times in my history, but I've never once had a technician come over. They tend to charge you more if they have to do that.

Have you considered taking your computer to a repair shop? All you (usually) need is the CPU tower; they'll supply the monitors, the keyboards, the WiFi and everything else. Just unplug everything connected to the CPU and bring it in.

Yes I have considered it as they are not too far away the dang thing is heavy :P

I plan on doing research for both options. Was interested though if anyone had actual had a tech come out.

Ok. I printed out information on a Preboot System Assessment Diagnostics. Has anyone done this? or is it better done by more experienced people?
I am doing another full virus scan to be sure.

No virus. Did the pre-boot and got the error code. Will check with support.

Nope. If you want a good antivirus, you have to pay for it. Try upgrading AVG Free to AVG Premium and you'll see what I mean. Scan with AVG Free, upgrade to AVG Premium, scan with AVG Premium and prepare to be shocked with how much spyware and other crud (possibly including viruses or other malware) that AVG Free missed. I did that and immediately vowed that I would spread the word to everyone that AVG Free is something to be avoided.

But I've been using McAfee Total Protection for two or three years now (after McAfee offered me a better deal than AVG did). It costs about $40 a year, but I firmly recommend it.

Most ISPs give antivirus with their packages, it may be something for you to look into there.
