The persistent storage system in Thay and the Underdark, which utilizes chests, armoires, bookshelves, etc, will be changing.
Within the next few weeks, this PW's persistent storage system is going to be replaced by one that is much fancier, which utilizes brand new NWNEE functionality. And rather than attempt to migrate everything that has been hoarded into persistent storage since we began the 3rd edition of TatU way back in March of 2018, the current storage database will be removed and this new system will start with a new database.
As a result, please begin to evaluate if you truly need all the items your PCs have placed in a persistent vault, chest, bookshelf, armoire, dresser, cabinet, or chest of drawers. Because if they are not removed by the cutover date, they will be permanently lost. If you absolutely, positively, must keep something that you are absolutely, positively, certain you are personally going to use, move it to your inventory or the inventory of your mount, pack slave, or mercenary.
An exact date for the cutover will be posted once I have a better idea of when that may occur. However, that announcement may not give more than a week's advance notice, so I'd recommend doing your de-cluttering sooner rather than later.
IMPORTANT: This (along with other upcoming improvements) will require anyone logging into the PW to be on NWNEE build 8193.32 or later. Anyone with an out-of-date client prior to that build will no longer be allowed to login to the server when this occurs. So please update to the latest stable build, if you have not already.

BUILDING OWNERS PLEASE READ:
VERY IMPORTANT: Please temporarily stop using storage containers in your building.
Beamdog made a change in the 8193.29 patch which automatically creates a unique resource reference (resref) for areas that are created/copied in-game - like our player houses. This change broke our persistent storage chest system in those areas because it partially relies on the area's resref to retrieve items from the database. As a result, when we moved to the 8193.30 patch on August 3, it's likely that any items PCs had placed in storage containers within a player-owned building disappeared since they couldn't be retrieved from the database anymore.
While we didn't have any bug reports (maybe all building-owners just thought they got robbed?) this is still a problem now that the resref NWN automatically creates for each player building after every reset may not be the same. For example; if the owner of building #1 loses it to late taxes or relinquishes claim, the (re)creation of every subsequent player building after the next reset will get a different NWN-generated resref than it had the previous server reset. And that would again break storage for all containers in all buildings after the one that was lost/unclaimed.
However, because of the impending persistent storage revision, and since I am currently in process of revising almost all of the player housing system code, I do not intend to address this problem at this time. Once we move to the new persistent storage system, it's obvious we won't be able to use player house resrefs anymore, which will be changed to use a different identifier at that time.
Until then though, I strongly advise anyone with items currently stored in a player-owned persistent storage container to get them out as soon as possible, and to not use them again until we move to the new storage system.
