Serann woke to find himself naked and covered in blood in his father’s small slave barracks. His eyes widened in horror as they adjusted to the dim morning light streaming in the narrow window 10 feet above his head.
Bodies lay everywhere.
Greta, the slave girl he occasionally came to for one of his many sick pleasures, lay closest. Terrible slash marks covered her body, and her face was barely recognizable.
‘Gods!’, he thought ‘What has happened?!’
He slowly picked himself off the floor and staggered over to her, ripping off the remains of her clothing to begin wiping some of the blood off his body. As he examined himself he found that he was not injured in the slightest. Was all this blood from the slaves? How in the hells did it get on him? Where was his father? The questions grew and swirled through his mind like a cyclone.
Eventually he found a pair of clothes on a slave -the Calshite Boeln as far as he could tell- that were not too badly shredded or bloodied, and made his way outside. The sun was just beginning to peak over the eastern horizon when he stopped short and stared yet again. There lay his father and the three hired men he used to help keep the slaves in line and monsters off the small plantation. Their swords lay nearby each of their mutilated forms, giving an indication they had died in a slightly more dignified way than the slaves.
He fell to his knees and sobbed “Hells! What has happened to everyone?! What is wrong with me?”
Deep down he knew though. The bite he suffered from the strange bandit almost a week ago had not gotten better, but festered and grew until last night when he could remember no more. Now as his hands moved up to feel the wound at his neck, the wound was gone.
“Yes.” A deep voice behind him said “You know exactly what happened here. Come with me, and this night I shall show you how to control it. If you could do all this without knowing, imagine what you can do when you can control it...”

To help get those interested get an understanding of the lycan system of Thay, I will be holding 2 separate sessions this coming weekend which will allow PCs who wish to permanently become a lycan, or just try the lycan system. Additionally, those who are already infected (and there are a few of you!) will become aware of their condition so they can try to transform and control it at nights.
These sessions will be at:
Saturday, August 8 from 12:00-2:00 PM CST (GMT -6)
Sunday, August 9 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM CST (GMT -6)
To participate, you can create either a new PC, or use an existing PC. Any new PC involved will have the option of getting bitten and becoming a Wererat or Werewolf, whereas existing PCs of level 6+ will have the option of getting bitten by a Werecat, and existing PCs of level 9+ will have the option of getting bitten by a Wereboar.
I’d suggest reviewing the Lycan System prior to joining either one of the sessions. These sessions are independent of each other, so if you can’t make one, you can sure just try to make the other. If you can make it to both - great!
Finally, please note that the calendar dates in-game will not match up exactly with what is in the standard system described in the link above, so I’ll be using a bit of ‘DM-magic’ to force transformations and so forth. ;)
