Everyone should look at the short description in game, and take the time to at least provide a very brief one or two sentences about what someone can notice about their PC. It does help provide some RP opportunity, and gives a rough idea at times to other players about how their PC might interact with yours. I do agree it'd be handy for adjusting a description, say if someone got a scar, or something other dramatic happened. I think 'name' should not be change-able though.
