Timeline of World Events
#1
This thread will provide a recap of important or major yearly in-game events as the Thay PW’s timeline moves forward into the future. If there is an event that occurred which you would like to see in this calendar, write up the details and PM them to me.

-----------------------------------

Present Year: 1363 DR - Year of the Wyvern
-Mikal Canos, tharchion of Delhumide, disappears while investigating rumors of a powerful artifact in the ruins of Delhumide. Invarri Metran, a tribune of the Delhumide legion, was selected to succeed him some months later.

1362 DR - Year of the Helm
-Maligor, Zulkir of Transmutation, attempts to wrest control of the nation from the Council of Zulkirs by taking control of the Gold Mines of Thay. His plan might have worked was it not for the intervention of Harper agents and Szass Tam. It is widely believed he was buried alive during a cave-in within the mines.

-The Red Wizards of the school of Transmutation vote to select Druxus Rhym as the successor to Maligor as the Zulkir of Transmutation.

-Willeth Lionson, tharchion of High Thay, is tortured and killed by the Zulkir Maligor as part of his scheme to take control of the Gold Mines of Thay. Spiros Dehkahks, a decorated tribune of the High Thay legion, is chosen by the zulkir council to succeed him.

-Thay attempts to invade Rashemen by moving forces through Thesk along the Golden Way, but they are overwhelmed by water elementals summoned by the Witches. The Thayans retreat after using magic to scorch the western shore to bare rock. The Witches spend a month repairing the damage.

1361 DR - Year of Maidens

1360 DR - Year of the Turret
-In the resulting Battle of Ashane, the wild Rashemi and their mysterious witches provided Faerûn with its only decisive victory over the Tuigan before the khahan was finally beaten in the Battles of the Golden Way. Winter snows hold the Thayan army in place, allowing the berserkers to move north again and attack the unsuspecting Tuigans in their camps. The Battle of the Lake of Tears forces the Horde to fall back. The Red Wizards part the waters of Ashane to allow the Tuigans to retreat. The Rashemi do not pursue.

-The Tuigan Horde invading Thesk is defeated by a united army led by Azoun IV in the Battles of the Golden Way and the khahan is killed.

1359 DR - Year of the Serpent
-With the mysterious disappearance of Thazar Keep, the Tuigan Horde invades Thay through Thazar Pass. Zulkir Szass Tam negotiates a truce with Yamun Khahan after the Battle of the Griffon Legion in which Thay was dealt a crushing defeat that virtually annihilated the vaunted Griffon Legion. The Horde heads north to attack Rashemen with Thayan assistance.

-Brave adventurers return Thazar Keep from the shadow realm in which it had been suspended and imprisoned

1358 DR - The Year of Shadows
-A massive fleet of ships constructed in the Mulhorandi port of Sultim plied its way across the Alamber en route to a secret attack on the Thayan shipyards and holds on the Alaor. Caught up in massive sea storms, which some claim were summoned by Thayan priests of Umberlee, the fleet lost many ships, which sank into sahuagin territory and five near-simultaneous sinking ships actually wrecked the palace and hatchling pits at Korinagh. Seeing this as an attack on all of Aleaxtis (given the size of the fleet above), the prince Korinagh mobilized his forces and sent out the deepsong that rallied the sahuagin of the four towns of eastern Alamber and the city of Vahaxtyl to war. For much of the rest of that year, all of Mulhorand's coasts came under attack by sahuagin, and they destroyed many ships and dock areas of ports.
However, the turning point of the war came during the Time of Troubles, as the exiled gods Sekolah and Anhur met in the sea just northwest of the Alaor. Despite being in the Great Devourer's element, Anhur defeated Sekolah, and this defeat demoralized the sahuagin, allowing the war to end in defeat despite not taking major losses and causing much havoc upon their enemies.

-The Time of Troubles occurs with gods walking the face of Faerun as mortals as punishment for the theft of the Tablets of Fate. Magic is wild and unpredictable, and those who receive spells from a god are unable to cast spells unless within a mile of their god's avatar.

-During the Time of Troubles, Hoar/Assuran (the god of revenge and retribution) took as his mortal avatar the body of King Hippartes of Akanax. After traveling to Thay to obtain a cache of weapons he had hidden in the Thaymounts, and narrowly evading the plots of a Red Wizard known as the Masked One, Hoar commanded the army of Akanax and several hired mercenary companies into wars against the neighboring cities of Cimbar, Soorenar, and Luthcheq in revenge for ancient insults. The Doombringer incited several long-simmering conflicts between those cities as well, plunging most of Chessenta into war. After a string of victories against ancient foes of Akanax and himself, he forged an alliance between Chessenta's fractious cities. He then turned Akanax's armies against Unther and against the church of Ramman in particular. Ramman's avatar met him face-to-face and toe-to-toe, and in an act of poetic justice, the Doombringer wove a powerful spell that slew Ramman by causing a bolt of lightning to rebound after the Untheric storm god's third thunderous lightning attack. However, once again Assuran lost out when, before he could seize Ramman's portfolio, the Untheric lord of war passed it on to Anhur, war god of Mulhorand, and left the Realms permanently. The revitalized Mulhorandi god of war led his troops to Unther's defense and routed the Chessentan mercenaries, many of whom defected to his side. The Doombringer was once again driven from Unther in defeat.

-The Time of Troubles ends when two mortals, Cyric and Midnight return the Tablets of Fate to the overgod Ao. In return, they are made gods and assume the portfolios of Bhaal, Bane, Myrkul, and Mystra - just a few of the gods-made-mortal that were killed during this tumultous period.

1357 DR - Year of the Prince
-Hargrid Tenslayer, tharchion of Lapendrar, combined forces with the zulkirs of Evocation and Conjuration and undertook one of the most ambitious schemes of conquest in Thayan history. Although Kossuth, tyrant of the fire elementals, was worshiped throughout Thay, the triumvirate chose to bypass him in their quest for extraplanar aid and instead approached Fyzzar, a lord of the salamanders, and Sultan Marrake of the efreeti.

-Thayan assault on the coastal cities of Tilbrand, Lasdur, Taskaunt, Escalant, Murbant, and Thasselen. The plan backfires, however the Efreeti are banished, and the resulting Salamander War lasts over a year.

-Another Thayan faction invades Rashemen with an army of zombies and is ultimately turned back.

-Tharchion Hargrid Tenslayer of the Lapendrar dies in the Salamander War while defending Nethwatch Keep.

-Szass Tam recalls his undead Myrkul's Legion from the invasion of Rashemen and turns them south to assist the beleaguered zulkirs of Evocation and Conjuration fighting the Salamander War.

-Salamanders find a way to the Alaor Isle and cause extensive damage during a sustained attack against the Alaor Naval Base. Ultimately they are repelled and destroyed.

-Up and coming Red Wizard Aznar Thrul allies with the Flaming Brazier Temple in Bezantur to petition Kossuth who grants his aid and an army of Fire Elementals to combat the Salamanders. Within months, the Salamander army is defeated, Escalant, Murbant, and Thasselen reclaimed in the name of Thay, and the Salamander War ended.

-Tharchion Mari Agneh disappears and, with the zulkir council bowing to popular demand from the backing of the extremely popular Thayan faith of Kossuth, Aznar Thrul is named Tharchion of the Priador in her place.

1356 DR - Year of the Helm
-The Tharchioness of Eltabbar and Selfaril, the High Blade of Mulmaster, first met and exchanged gifts in the extravagantly decorated Redhall of Eltabbar during a formal diplomatic reception
