Before you lies a royal quarto sized book bound in the thick cerulean hide of a frost giant. A locking clasp of silver binds it shut, engraved with Abyssal script. Such etchings cover the front board, back board, spine, and raised bands of the tome. The magically inclined would note that these are enchantments to protect the tome from both mundane weather and more pernicious harm such as magical acid or fire. Upon opening the tome a highly stylized hand would be apparent, the text being written in duplicate in the Thayvian Mulhorandi dialect and Abyssal.

19th of Kythorn 1359 DR

The sun will rise soon, and I have been in prayer since late evening four nights hence. Though distant, I have never heard the voice of Everlasting Dread Moander so vigorous, so definite, so pellucid and He spoke "LIES"; although, I know not what this means and the Darkbringer has been silent since. Perhaps the orc children were not pleasing sacrifices. Who, or what, is lying? Why? This does not strike me as some warning about my many petty encounters. May the Rotting God aid me, and grant me the perspicacity to understand--I must comprehend the meaning...
