I can see where maybe this would be nice since these are custom features. However, like in the case of certain standard spells that have multiple effects, it could then be argued that there should be a toggle for what effects they perform as well - like toggling Dispel Magic to only affect hostiles, for example. I'll think about it some more , and your suggestion would probably be the best way to go if it is implemented, but I guess at the moment I'm not sure about opening another 'can of spell worms' to give PCs the ability to pick and choose what things a spell can affect.
