So the lens will be happening sometime in the near future.
However I want to stress that the values you appraise an item at are going to be much, much more (even if they go to the -40%) than any payment you'd receive from a NPC merchant. I have it mentioned elsewhere, but if you can get 25% of an item's price at a merchant, consider yourself extremely fortunate. Most NPC merchants run between 7-20% depending on the person's appraise skill. In addition, as noted in the description, this lens is not a definitive 'this is the price of the item'. So even if you're very certain an item is worth 1000 gold, if you can get 100-200 gold for it, consider it a win.
The worse your appraise skill, the better chance you are going to be off by up to 40% above or below the item's true value. That's a pretty significant swing when one person might use this and tell you an item that is actually worth 5000 is worth 7000 (the unlucky +40%), and another tells you it is worth 3000 (the unlucky -40%). The appraise skill plays a big, big part in reducing the +/- variance swings with it. Finally, once the lens has been used by someone on an item, they will forever value it at that amount - you can't rebuff or change your appraise skill to try and get a different (or more accurate) result.
------------------------------
Finally, to again explain what items I'm most interested in; I'm looking for unique items and things that can't be made at the forges or already found in treasure or generated through the random treasure system we already have.
