Heh...meals for Mother Day, eh? :P
I drove over to Mom and Dad's house today with the intention of "kidnapping" Mom and taking her to dinner at Athena (a nice Greek restaurant in Tyler, Texas). I arrived only to find that Mom didn't want to go anywhere because she had picked up a nasty poison ivy rash on both arms and about half of her torso, and she had only made it worse by scratching it. She had already used calamine lotion, but as anyone who is prone to poison ivy rashes (like myself) knows, calamine lotion's useless; you might as well be sprinkling tap water on the afflicted skin. So I ran back out and bought Mom a tube of Zanfel paste for $35...pretty top-dollar stuff, but Mom's worth it. The Zanfel lived up to the hype, and Mom's itching went away after about 30 seconds of rubbing it into her skin and washing it off. The itching was still gone when I left about six hours later, so the rash should go away in about one day, maybe less.
So instead of buying dinner for Mom, I brought swift ease to her suffering. I guess it was as good a Mother's Day gift as any.
