Surprisingly, I have received the new hard drive circuit board that had the old circuit board’s ROM chip moved over (soldered) to it. The turnaround time was phenomenal.
Unfortunately, that’s it.
The drive continues to not be recognized when connected to another computer, and it will not boot up when connected into the server. When I get right next to it I can hear there is a slight clicking sound coming from it. Multiple places have told me that if the drive is clicking you’re SOL.
With this last data recovery attempt failing, the worst chapter in Thay’s history is officially over. I do want everyone to know though that the backup plan in place now has the servervault and databases going to a OneDrive folder on the server every week, which is then immediately uploaded/saved 'to the cloud' as well. In addition the weekly backup also goes to a thumb drive which is always plugged in to the server machine. Something like this loss will never happen again.
So I’ll end with providing one last “I’m very sorry” to everyone, and then that’s it for this thread. Moving on.
