As several of you know, Oblib has a rather strange fetish about rods thanks to what a certain gnome did to him with one (read into that however much you will). He views them all as strange, menacing, terrible things and will do so regardless of their size. To him, in my mind (which is, of course, his as well), they are all big, menacing, horrible devices that he'd like to snap in half. And the key, to me, is the underlined part. PnP, and even this game, requires the use of your imagination to some extent. We use emotes because we simply don't have the animations in-game to *cowers in fear* or *dumps the body down the well* and so on. And there are just so many other things were we have to 'pretend' it is the way they are. But if your imagination is helped by reducing rod size, or using overrides, then so be it.
The game has the overrides and patch functionality built-in and there is a ton of them out there. As mentioned, we cannot stop anyone from using them whether they are brought up here, or not. We can also not stop you from not using them. I think I've mentioned that I do all my module work using vanilla+hak resources, but when I play I do occasionally like to include overrides or patches just to see things a bit differently. There's a lot of awesome stuff out there. So the ruling is: use your own judgment. Most of us are adults here, if push comes to shove, try to reach a compromise or simply agree to disagree.
Oblib: I hate your 2 foot rod and I'd like to snap it in half.
Hazlok: I am a Red Wizard, foolish peasant! If you talk to me like that again about my majestic 3 foot rod I will turn you into a zombie who does nothing but hold it for me when I'm not using it.
Oblib *stutters*: O...O...Oh great master, I'm so sorry! I just hate rods of all sizes after what a crazy gnome did to me with his. I will never insult you so again! But if you could find it in your cold heart to cover your rod when I'm around, I would be forever grateful.
Hazlok: *sighs* Just get out of my sight, worm, and then you won't see it.
