New to the Server
#2
I'm just another player, but will try to help out with these. I don't have any inside knowledge about the scripts, so some of the info is educated guesses, but I've been playing here for over a year now.

1. I'd recommend sticking with quests given by the beggar until he's done with you. It can be a little boring, but I think the quests he gives are a little safer for low level chars and count for more toward being done with him. Basically, once your character's notoriety is high enough, he'll be done with you and your character can move on and join one of the in-game factions. AFAIK, that's when slavers stop coming after you too... though you'll start getting assassins coming after you then :)

While you're running around delivering those boring messages, you're learning the layout of Bezantur and getting XP for visiting new areas, plus it's a great chance to talk to townsfolk. Do that as much as you can and get information on the background of Thay and info about in-game stuff (like the location of a high-level dungeon). Not only will you learn some good info, but you'll get more XP for doing it. Nice.

2. Slavers are both NPCs and PCs. PC slavers use subdue mode to knock creatures out and enslave them with shackles and sell them to NPC slavers for gold and notoriety. NPC slavers start coming after you at 2nd level and continue coming after you until your notoriety is high enough that they won't bother you. And like I said, that's when NPC assassins will start coming after you. NEVER go AFK without marking your character as AFK so the scripts know not to attack you.

3. Probably the best way to make money aside from slaving is to get a group together and head with them into the sewers or crypts. There's safety in numbers (others can help you if you're bleeding out), and as I recall, the chances of finding items are higher with more people in the group. Plus you can get a mixture of skills for dealing with monsters, traps, and locks. And you can make in-char friends who can be a big help in the long term.

4. If you're new to NWN (I never played NWN2, so don't know how similar they are), then your best choice is likely to be a fighter-type (fighter, ranger, monk... I'd stay away from Paladin in Thay unless you're up for a real challenge :) ). Then go with a pretty high strength and con. Strength = better chance to hit, more damage dealt, and more items you can carry away and sell. Con = more hit points, better fortitude saves, and a higher chance to stop bleeding when (not if) you go unconscious.

5. Can't help out here. KTA and Thayan are in charge of this.

Some other advice - try to avoid dying. Yes, your mysterious allies will rescue you, but only for a while. After that you'll go to the fugue and lose XP, notoriety, and all your gold and items will be left in a pack where you died. And each time you die after that the XP and notoriety hit will go up until it's no longer worthwhile to play the character.

And don't neglect notoriety and just focus on levelling. Notoriety is very important on this server and opens up some very cool options for your character. I love the notoriety system!
