Tips for Adventuring in Thay
#2
There's a lot of good advice in this list and I recommend that it be read in its entirety.

I'd like to reinforce one point. Take things slowly. Patience is often the key between a long, successful life and a quick, pointless death. Just because there's a vast sewer system doesn't mean that you HAVE TO investigate every inch of it (multiple times). Sure, it's nice to gain experience and shiny, magical items are fun to collect, but those are, at best, secondary concerns in the great scheme of Thay. Killing things is actually the least efficient way of gaining Notoriety.

Consider the following. What good are levels if no one knows you? Is that shiny bauble really going to save the day?

By no means am I trying to discourage people from Thay's favorite pastime (Sewer Diving). I'm simply suggesting that most of us could stand to be more selective about how willing our characters are to risk their lives with little benefit.

Focus on developing your character(s). If you do that, Notoriety will be yours. Those levels will come, as will the nifty magical items.

The more characters who actually survive into maturity the stronger the entire community becomes.
"Survival of the fittest and the winnowing of the weak are Malar's Legacy. A brutal, bloody death or kill has great meaning. The crux of life is the challenge between the hunter and the prey, the determination of who lives or dies. View every important task as a hunt. Remain ever alert and alive."
