Eh, it's a euphemism. We wouldn't really expect bi people to be wired for both kinds of electrical current, or to actually drive on both sides of the street. It's the same sort of thing. Ambidexterity's not a very common thing, and apparently neither is bisexuality. On a related note, how good are ambidextrous people in bed? :P
