After years of consideration and planning, and months of work by Bertram Anders, William Draco, and Balanor, Thay and the Underdark has 7 new prestige classes available for beta testing:
Black Flame Zealot
Eldritch Knight
Monk of the Long Death
Mystic Theurge
Red Wizard
Thayan Knight
Thayan Slaver
These classes are in a beta testing phase, so some elements of them could still change. Our plan is to have them finalized, tested, and make them generally available after our setting reboot, planned for November 3, 2023. But to give you (the players) a chance to try them out and see how they'll work in this PW; as of today you can create a test character and, in the Character Laboratory of Thay, select these classes during levelup.
Here are a few things to note for testing.
1. Several of these classes will require faction membership when made generally available. However, PCs in the Character Laboratory can take them without meeting that prerequisite.
2. It is very likely that PrCs which have a faction membership requirement will disqualify lab characters from being converted to a PC Mercenary, however that is not implemented at this time. Regardless, new feats/abilities for these classes have not been, and may never be, added to the NPC AI system. So please keep in mind that any PC Henchmen created using these new PrCs will not utilize a new (usable) feat or ability since the NPC AI won't know about it.
3. All feats/benefits are fully implemented - and a huge thanks go to William Draco who setup all the necessary scripting and created a new NWNX plugin just for this PW, to make them work. Please test them and report any problems or feedback you may have.
4. In particular; Circle Magic for Red Wizards is a very neat, and was a very complex, feature to add (again - thanks go to William Draco for his excellent work on it, including a new nUI window). For testing purposes, the requirement has been temporarily suspended that participants in the Circle must have Magic Tattoos. So it would be great if someone(s) would create a Red Wizard PC, while 2-9 other players create participant spellcasters that can form a Circle….and then test the hell out of it! See what breaks the circle, see what works, or what doesn't work, or if there are any exploits, or gaps, or problems.
