Ok – before a chorus of ‘Not just no, but Hell No’ starts up, I’ll try to explain a little further.
First, the primary purpose of this is to relive some of the glory moments of 2nd and 3rd edition lore – the Salamander Wars, Time of Troubles, the Tuigan invasion, Maligor’s fall, etc. It is not to punish anyone or me just wanting to be an asshole and making everyone start over again. I love those events, and would love the opportunity to portray them in the PW again. That is all.
Second, I would really encourage everyone to look at some opportunities this could bring up. For example Animayhem is concerned with PC’s notoriety being lost – but the plan is that we will be very generous with ‘compensation’ for PCs of our active players. Multiple compensation options could be selected for one PC. And if you have multiple PCs you wish compensation for, that can and will be done. Take the option to retire Azura and recreate a long-lost cousin (Azuria maybe?) as a special PC. Maybe Azuria is an autharch of the Priador in charge of military intelligence or internal affairs or something else that makes her important to the Priador Legion right away after the reboot without having to accumulate notoriety immediately. And maybe she has a super-cool item(s) that everyone wants. And/or a special tree house just outside Murbant/Thasselen/Bezantur and makes her very popular as well. And so on.
Regardless though, your quick decision is noted and already recorded Animayhem.
Karilynn - Red Wizard PCs would be reduced to less than apprentice status again by the current plan. All would start at a level just below what is required to complete the Beggar’s quests.
But, and I should have mentioned this to start with, none of these options are completely set in stone. If anyone has recommendations or ideas on how to handle something different or more fairly in the event of a setting reboot, that is what this thread is for as well.
