Good luck. :D

Since I'm not sure which one fried, I'd like to replace both but I couldn't find the second one on any of the circuit board sites I've been looking at. So instead I ordered a used identical hard drive off Amazon (wish I had thought of that early). When that arrives, the plan is to make sure it powers up first of all, and assuming that's the case I'll then swap out the boards.

I choose expedited shipping from the person/company I bought the used drive from on Amazon so it should get shipped tomorrow or Thursday. With luck I'll have it by the weekend and try the circuit board swap then.

*fingers crossed*

Take the time you need as they are tricky things. We at least have a place to play for now. :)

Ooooo ... incentives!

I wonder if a "generic" priestess of Loviatar selling bandages and healing open wounds (all funds going to the church rather than the store) in a corner of LICKME is posible? That's likely programming. Or are incentives generally just items or deeds?

Just curious.
Can we have the password to the server, now?

It's in the first post of this thread, near the end of the first post.

Incentives will be set up, in general, to give players the ability to try and recover some/most or what they may have had with a little effort/time spent in-game. As far as additional incentives beyond that, they may be possible if not too difficult or time consuming to provide. But I don't want to promise anything just yet as I'm already developing a plan for incentives which is not finalized.

But should this be the route we go, I will post much more detailed information about options, if that point comes.
I don't know if anyone has suggested this, but as an Incentive you could offer double XP and Double Notoriety for a time period and then revert back to the norm once that period is over! Or you could offer say 5 free levels per new character with some Note and Gold enough to get basic protection like +1 weapon and armour for a short time! This may not only tackle the getting up and started issue but also make it a lot easier to get the server back on it's feet :)! I played a server years back that had a similar problem to this and they used the same sort of "Gift" so to speak so as to give everyone the equal amount!

A special enchantment forge you can only visit once to reupgrade items at 0 talons and 1/2 xp cost, maybe? Recently checked my char on thay when I had the time, and its from way before the party raids that helped me get reequipped way back up heh. It's even reverted back to a quest in my journal as well that was missing just one item to complete it, but that quest has been moved/removed, so its literally before my "comeback" to Thay, my one use/day shadow shield item etc and the other items I was prepping to kill a certain Red Wizard player... But at least the re-de-level has told me I have 37k xp to spend at forge, whatever forge costs now, maybe I can remake it all if I reearn the talons again and get lucky with a couple specific drops...
Obviously, I'm still hoping that the repairs to the crashed drive work.

Rebooting the world like last time seems to have been the least popular action if I recall the previous poll correctly. This leads me to wonder what happens if the Feb save is used ....

We are using it now under password, right? Would it be restarted? Or would it just continue from what is up on the server now (leaving the question of DM upgrading characters to pre-crash out entirely). If we've been playing around with new characters on the "temp version," will they still be there if restoring the drive doesn't pan out?

The only downside I could see from maintaining what's currently on would be if somebody played their treasured character and got them permanently killed before they could get them "upgraded to previous levels" if that ends up being what's done.
I'm happy with either option.

Looking at the poll, does this mean that it's pretty safe to say right now that unless the data can be recovered, we'll be going forward with the current server?
