Ok everyone, help me out here. Post what days of the week and what times would be good for you. Make sure to include your timezone.

I'm much the same as Animayhem. I know there's going to be some very nice items being auctioned off, I'd suggest you might want to post the list of items you know will be auctioned, it might get more people to show up.

Kta, Thayan,
Could some sort of compromise be done? Have some items actually auctioned in a thread? I have seen this work well in another pw. Limits are set. For example:
Item: Bracers of armor +1
Brief discription or screen shot of game discription
opening price $400 gold.
Someone will probably say "Met"
if noone else bids let say six hours then a statement could be put "going once"
then by the same time the next day, "going twice"
third day if no response around same time "Sold to ..."

If not I second the notion of an item list preferrably with a screenshot of the item with the details. In this way people can decide what they want to bid on allowing the actual in game to go smoother. Also allow for anonymous bids by players who wish to bid but can not attend and let them know via pm.

I do not want to turn the boards into an extension of what should be happening in-game. In part, I am sure the Thieves Guild is taking special interest in such auctions. Or maybe a storekeep, powerful Red Wizard, or some other Thayan celebrity may make an appearance and have their own special and unique items they want the auctioneers to handle in exchange for a piece of the coin made. In other words - I'm excited to see the opportunities this can open up in-game and want to keep the action there.

It seems like there is a fair amount of interest in this (myself included!), and with the coin and items to be had I'd encourage an entrepreneurial look at handling this - maybe more people (with players in various time zones) need to be hired to handle the auction. Maybe guards need to be hired to watch the items. Then, of course, there is the cut to be negotiated between the item owners and the auctioneers. Good times!

I really suggest looking at multiple times to hold multiple auctions in-game. And as far as doing things on the board though, I think it's acceptable though for those organizing it to post a list here of available items (and maybe a generalization of their powers) that they have agreed upon with the owners of them to be auctioned off. But the fee negotiations, bidding, buying, selling, and transferring of the items should all occur in-game.

I doubt anyone would be willing to pay $ ;)

But besides that is the Auction pretty much not allready set in motion, I mean he might be in an off timezone but to fix that all we need is one of Mauristan's..'hirelings' who lives in another time zone to hold one aswell, which I think would be quite possible (Tho they might not be on the forum) Other than thay maybe one of the few merchant PCs on the Server could hold the auction afterall they are merchants and it's their area of expertise.

(The above might not make sense, please say so if its hard to understand)

Also, everyone keep in mind that if you're a little bit short of cash for an item you want, there's a friendly new loan company in town: http://thaypw.org/showthread.php?tid=1164
