3 PC Limit Reminder

Thanks for the heads up!

How will it be determined that a character is active? For example, will it cause problems if a player creates "test" characters that that never actually leave the starting OOC room?

You can self delete characters. When you log on, select the character options and there is an option to delete.

There are test build modules out there which you can download, add the thayan haks and do tests there as well.

I used that in creating my elf Rimeth.

After further observation over the past few six weeks, I feel the enforced limit of three active characters does need to go into effect. I'm setting July 1 as the target date for this to occur. If you have more than 3 characters, please determine which three will be your active ones and retire the others by then. Or just be prepared to have the others remain safely inactive in your vault until you tire of one of your three main PCs.

If you have a long term PC you are considering retiring to make a mark on the PW, work with a DM to see if they can run an event or two for you to make that happen.

Greetings everyone.

Anyone that is over the 3 PC limit and is looking to give their character a glorious death before the deadline is reached on July 1st, please send me a PM. What I have in mind is something similiar to recent events in the Tyraturos Nights! campaign. I would like to schedule a session with only those PCs and make it a part of the campaign, but I would like to gauge interest in this before going further.

It is my hope to get enough of these characters gathered to make it a memorable send off. Those who agree to this (assuming we get enough interest) will have their character immortalized in game. I do not want to give away too many details at this time.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

I still don't understand...

Is it that we simply won't be able to log in with more than 3 characters, while the rest linger about in the vault?

Or do we actually need to delete all characters in our vault beyond 3 characters?
Currently Playing:

Galambos Thrune - Griffon Knight
Archibold Vanderdaghast - Palemaster
Anders Maerklos - Spellsword
Chessala Zolond - Yathrin d'Lolth

As I understand it, once the log in tracking goes into affect, if you have six characters in the vault, the first three you log on with you will only be allowed to play. You can not touch the other three unless one of your current three is deleted.
However in this scenario, as I understand it you will not be able to use the deleted for another.

Also as suggested keep three making on of the three disposable in case you wish to make a different PC.

In my case I will be retiring Cara. I am keeping Marister and Rimeth and Garbage. As suggested Garbage, pardon the pun, will be my disposable character should I wish to make a new one.

Once this goes into effect, the first three PCs a player logs into the server with will be considered their 3 active PCs. For existing players who may already have more PCs than that in their servervault you will not need to delete them. But if you try to log in with any beyond the third, or you try to create a new PC when you already have 3 active PCs marked, the login process for those PCs stops immediately and they will be stuck in the black Welcome to Thay area and unable to move. You'll receive a message telling you the names of your three active PCs, and that if you want to play this PC, one of those three must be deleted. It's only at that point you may actually need to delete any of your PCs.

Bumping this.

To answer a question I got on this so far, the character retired in this fashion does not have to be a long standing character in the PW. It can be ANY character you wish to retire before the 3 PC limit hits. While it would be nice to retire a long standing character in this fashion, it actually was beyond my scope. This is being offered to just bring accounts within specifications.

So far I have only one character that is interested. I would like to drum up support for some more. Don't be shy! It will only hurt a little.

Final bump on this as I'm looking to run something involving these characters within the next week or two. I've gotten a couple more players interested in this form of retirement, so you won't be alone.
